More queue.dat file info displayed
Version Update Check Fixed
Linux log file display problem fixed
Added more queue.dat info to the display. Now shows the upload and download speed in K-Bytes per second and the new Stanford Performance fraction. Stanford uses this performance fraction to determine what kind of work to assign to the box.
Download/Upload Rates and What you are looking at: (taken from rph_iv's web site) These rates are measured by the client as a benchmark of system network performance. They are a sliding window average weighted over the recorded number of units. This number is capped by the client at four, so the average tends to track more recent performance. It doesn't mean that only the last four units are averaged, but rather that the stored value is weighted four times greater than the value from a new unit, so in fact it determines the characteristic rate at which the effects of older units decay.
Performance Fraction and what you are looking at: This value is calculated by the client as a benchmark of the system's ability to complete work units quickly. It is a sliding window average of the fraction of the deadline time remaining when a unit is completed, weighted over the recorded number of units. The number of units is capped at four, exactly as it is for the network download and upload rates.
The EM-DC.COM web site is a domain that is redirected to my personal web site. Sometime over the past month or so, the site no longer accessed specific files specified by EM, like the ones used to check the protein updates and EM version updates. I have fixed this problem. You will again see update notices when things change. Sorry I didn't catch this earlier.
For those running Linux boxes that are being monitored by EM and wanting to display the current log file properly using Notepad from EM, the file is converted to the correct format. Linux text files only end in a LineFeed character at the end of each line of text. Windows text files require both a LineFeed and a Carriage Return to display properly. EM now adds the Carriage Return when necessary so the text files display correctly using notepad. I thought I had already fixed this issue, but it appears that I was interrupted while in the middle of writing the code and I never remembered to go back and finish it. Sorry about that.
A big thank you to everyone who has contributed a few dollars to help me keep the EM-DC web site up and running. Every little bit helps and I appreciate the donations.
Please check the protein page to see if you might have one of my missing xyz protein files.
Thanks!
