Hopper bug?

I recently built an autosmelter on the server to speed up stone smelting (I tend to go through the stuff like crazy) however it appears that hoppers are refusing to:

A: Accept from chests/furnaces

B: Send to Chests/furnaces.

What doth verrily give.

    Edit: Nvm, apparently I had to remove protections
