Hey guys, been awhile since I last posted here. You guys helped me pick out a decent laptop for about $500, the Lenovo g505s. This time around I'm looking to build a PC, but I'm not 100% sure as to how to go about it, so I figured I'd ask you guys for help since you always seem to know whats best. I'm looking to build a gaming PC, pref windows 7, and my budget is around 800-900 bucks. This is also going to be the first PC I've ever built myself, so some assistance in actually quite HOW to do that would also be appreciated, as I only trust Wikihow so far. Thanks (:

There are some great build guides from selecting parts to putting it all together in the sidebard here. For your budget, do you have any reuse (e.g. mouse/keyboard) or need a full setup? Any size preferences (case/monitor), simple or flashy (matte case with minimal lights vs open window with LEDs) or example of games you like to play?
How much money do you have to spend?
I have a gaming mouse, keyboard, mousepad, headset, ect. I just need the desktop itself, and a monitor, but I might get that next paycheck instead. Size really doesn't matter to me, just don't want something that takes up the entire bedroom ya know? Simple is fine, don't really care what it looks like, but I do want a good cooling system. The look of the tower itself doesn't matter. Never really cared for looks, just power. Games I usually play are:
Dawn of War II
Starcraft II
League of Legends
DOTA 2
Guild Wars 2
Grim Dawn
Diablo III
Dragon Age: Inquisition(laptop barely runs it)
Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind
and other games I pick up from steam sales. All in all, I need something stronger than the Lenovo, as the minimum requirements for games are skyrocketing rapidly.
My max budget for the time being is $900. But I can push $1000 next week.
http://www.pcpartpicker.com is a pretty useful site for building computers, it finds you the best deals on ~10 websites for the parts, and makes sure that everything you choose is compatible with each other.
Using the site requit posted yield the following. It isn't exactly what I would pick on a first pass of new parts, but it fits your budget and is a pretty solid little machine.
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
(Pick R9 285 over R9 280)
The shill^ might have forgotten about this but i didnt...Next gen crusher, exterminator, etc.
PS: I know @thrax wouldnt actually recommend something just because its AMD.
Thanks man, I'll definitely check these out. Appreciate the help.
