winmgmt.exe errors

help, my gf keeps getting these damn winmgmt.exe errors constantly since yesterday. then the computer reboots.
cant find a definite way to fix or patch it online.
oops forgot to add, running windows 2000

her system
abit kr7a-raid
amd xp1700+
30 gig maxtor hd
gf2 mx400
simpletech 256 pc2700
liteon dvd
generic win modem

    it's not required for the computer to run. get the windows power toys, then run msconfig, and disable it. more info here

    my initial thought as well, and it won't hurt to do it, but this file is part of windows.

    i ended up doing a format and reload.
    but i thenk the mb is dying.
    the ide controllers on the board are not working correctly.
    floppy wont read, cd rom keeps getting block errors.
    so i am picking up a new mb tonight.
