Serious ATI Driver Problems
I wanted to write this to just let others know my experience with the recent updated Catalyst drivers. First of all I've been working with computers for over 20years and own my own tech company. This is only to indicate that I'm very familiar with hardware and drivers. The problems that I am having are with a Crucial 9700 Pro and Samsung 213T monitor connected via DVI connector. Basically any Catalyst driver newer than the 3.7s I have the following problem with:
I of course remove the previous drivers via the uninstall first then based on posts here I've removed all traces of a previous driver. This is on a WindowsXP Pro machine. After installing any of the drivers from the 3.8s and later I have a problem of the monitor losing signal anywhere from 1 day to a week after installation. Now I have turned off fast writes after each install and turned off ATIs anti-crash feature. I leave my system on all the time and don't use power management. I use only the WindowsXP screen saver. Out of the blue, the monitor will go blank and show a lost video signal. At first I thought this was a problem with the monitor or it's cord but after checking both and running the 3.7 drivers for months; I'm convinced that this is a driver problem. I do not have this problem with the 3.7 drivers at all. I've also noticed an overall lack of performance and slower video with any driver later than the 3.7s.
Obviously there is something written in all of the new drivers that are causing problems. I just wanted to write my experince and hope that someone benefits from them or realises that they are not alone if they are having these problems as well. Take care all.

I have no such problems and I have never had any problems. (except fast-writes and COD)
Sapphire Radeon 9700 np.
Are you guys using the DVI connector?
I am using the D-sub connector.
It displayed the wrong colors, but through the DVI it was fine.
The memory was bad though, couldn't run anything.
I got the card swapped, and I've been happy ever since.
