ICSP 2015 Last Minute Impromptu Kludge of a Tasting - Big Breakfast Beers
Oh yeah son. So I've been needing to winnow down my stock of beers, and while sipping on CBS that had been unexpectedly put on tap today, I had a realization.
What we're drinking: beers that have coffee. Most will be high ABV. Or .RAR. Or have the addition of other breakfast flavors like Maple and Bacon. Or both.
Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist (2014)
Odd Side Hipster Brunch Stout (2014)
Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter (2015)
Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout (2012)
Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout (2013)
Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout (2014)
Founders KBS (2015)
Founders CBS (2011)
and a special surprise
I don't have time to prep things for a blind tasting, this will be us sitting around, crushing a sample of each of these in a sequence I think will be quite fun.
When: TONIGHT MARCH 21ST AT ICHQ. Probably after dinner? So like 8 or 9pm?
Limited seating on this, please to be messaging me to let me know if you're in.
I have five confirmed "ins" from this crowd.
Garg says he's in. So in.
In, even though I am currently sitting next to you.
Ill do my traditional comment : maybe
Goddammit for a second there I read that as Klunge instead of Kluge.
Holy crap that beerlist. What was the special surprise?
2010 Dark Lord obvs.
@Karma how does it hold up? I've drank '11 & '12 but found them really on the sweet side.
What a list!
I guess I should drink my 2010 DL one of these days, it's probably falling off.
Thanks for joining me everyone! That was a great time.
I posted the pic to a beer group and a lot of people were very damn jealous.
I got the top 3 beers from everyone, and the winners were as follows:
BCBS 2013/2014 (Tie)
KBS / MBCP / Big Bad Baptist (Tie)
Seems about right!
'Til next time!
Best beer tasting I've had in a long time. So many whales. Thanks a ton for putting this one on @RyanMM!
Oooh, disappointing miss for me. Oncall + sick + other plans = big fail.
I'm a big fan of the BBB.
Is Big Bad Baptist tough to get? I'm in Utah for work once a quarter and find myself at Epic at least once each time, and they seem to have the bottles available. I always check a bag so I could mule some home for locals.
I see it on the shelves here in Michigan pretty often. Good beer though.
