New Video Card Time!

So I have been granted the opportunity to buy a new video card as this year's Father's Day present. As such I'm looking for something around the $200 range (there is some wiggle room available).
What I have:
990FX motherboard with a 6-core FX (can't remember the full designation).
16GB DDR3
eVGA modular 750W PSU
XFX Radeon 6870.
Antec TwelveHundred.
I don't think cooling or power would be an issue for anything that will run on that motherboard outside of the realm of insanity.
I plan to stick with AMD outside of any mega-compelling reason to go nVidia.
Thoughts?

GTX 970
or if you have to the 280 line is right in your price point. 280 will be within budget and the 280x is over a bit.
I love my GTX 970. low temps, quiet, and sips on energy
I noticed the 3XX cards are out now, too. Looks like a 380 would fit in my budget.
@Thrax can you chime in about what's new in the 300 series?
Fury and Fury X are new ASICs. The other 300 Series parts are new revisions/steppings of chips we've been making for a while, now at higher performance and lower power than their equivalent predecessors.
The 380 is killer price/performance imo.. One of my favorite parts in the new stack.
Make sure NOT to get the 2GB model if you get a 380.
If you get a R9 380 definitely spend the 10% or so extra to get a model that sports 4 GB of GDDR5. I have found the 2GB that I have on my R9285 to be a choke point on a few titles event at 1080P. Nobody wants to knock their texture slider back over $20.
So I'm probably going to buy from Amazon because I have some credits there. Piling up my current credits and calling it a $220 for out of pocket. I have finalized my budget at around the $250.
Current best candidate: http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-DL-DVI-I-DL-DVI-D-Graphics-11242-07-20G/dp/B00ZGL8D5M/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0HNKY407BTN0NWSWPZ48
The Nitro is a nice lineup from Sapphire. Getting good reviews. Can't really go wrong.
I'm also considering this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZFND0RM/ref=br_prlt_grdDy_pdt-11?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=1X650H76YA5BZCVMCBHF&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=2107299262&pf_rd_i=11166464011
Well crap. The XFX card I'm looking at says 750W, but I'm currently running 650W (double-checked when I got home this weekend).
The PSU estimates are extremely conservative to accommodate junk shit PSUs that users might have. Use a PSU wattage calculator.
Yeah, I did some more digging and it looks like I'm well in the clear. I don't have much other than the CPU and GPU.
Ordereded today. I'll find out on Wednesday night if I need to upgrade anything else.
