I have given up on the gaming. That was what I was trying to say earlier (just not doing a good job of it). I'm not going for a gaming PC (laptop or desktop) at the present moment and going for one that will, for lack of a better term, do the basics, which is what the Surface Pro i3 (the processor type, I'm looking at an i5 processor) does.
Okay, so some good news for me: I tried hooking my laptop up to a Dell monitor my mom has. It is working. So now, I am going to try and get an external hard drive to back up the things I have on my computer, as well as an HDMI cord to hook up to my TV to use it as a monitor. The new laptop is still a ways away, but this should help for the moment.
