So @Tiberiuslazarus and I were thinking, a scary notion I know, that at Expo this year we should do a showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show with all the call backs. If you've never seen RHPS then shame on you, if you've seen it but don't know what the call backs are you are missing out on really good times. I'm making this thread to gauge interest in this possible event and to further entice @Winfrey to come.

This doesn't have to be a scheduled event just something to do to fill in those awkward hours when larger events aren't going on.

You guys can do it easy without me especially if @Canti is there.

But are you enticed further? ;)
  • We've been talking about doing this for years. This year we're going to do it.

This has been an idea for several years that hasn't ever gone anywhere. If I remember right @Thrax knows his shit too. There are enough of us that know what's up it's sad we've never organized it. If I can make Epic this year I'm totally down for planning it. It's been a few years since I was in an actual viewing but I can shake the rust off. I used to run this shit.

For those who don't know. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a sci-fi musical from 1975 starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon, also Meatloaf. It's awful and people started watching it in large groups and making up call back lines to simulate interaction with characters in the movie. Also dressing up and dancing. It's pretty much great.

Also crazy idea. Me and Winfrey's scout camp (where we both learned our RHPS skills) has internet in the dining hall these days. Given the right equipment, if the day we do this at EPIC and the day of the session at camp line up just right we might be able to host a show in Missouri and Michigan at the same time and stream them to each other via webcam. Too much to process for first time viewers or best idea ever?

I'd actually really like to help with this, too. They used to do it at the Queen Mary down in Long Beach. So. Much. Fun.

I have SO many outfits for this, too, if anyone would want to borrow something.

Isn't a theater in the D that has weekly Friday/Saturday midnight showings where full on participation (I'm talking water guns, toast, etc...) can be experienced? If I can make EPIC I'd be in for the above. But maybe, since we have a few months and all, look for possibly doing the whole experience type deal in a theater...if the planning could be done and interest was there. Either way, I'm in for both, just sayin.

I'm in. My wife had never seen RHPS before and didn't understand why every time she said Damnit I responded with Janet. I had to rectify the situation once I found this out. We watched it last Halloween. Her mother was in town so we all watched it together. It was an interesting viewing to say the least.

The Cass City Cinema is 2 miles away and can be rented for groups. It's a B-run theater in an old elementary school run by 1 guy. Aaron and I saw Skyfall there last week. $5 tickets; we were the only ones in the theater at 9pm on Friday. New seats. Loved it.

Not really. My mother in law is actually really cool. She is a computer geek from her generation. She was the librarian for her Commodore 64 Club and did experiments on the floppies. I talked about an article she wrote here. She definitely would be fit right in at Icrontic.
