Anand Lal Shimpi, one of the most recognizable and respected names in technology journalism, has announced his retirement from AnandTech, the site that he founded at age 14 (what is it with 14-year-olds and tech sites, anyway?)

I had the pleasure to meet Anand in Taipei during Computex 2012, and his professionalism and work ethic came through strongly even in the short time I spent with him. He was rushing from one appointment to the next, making sure his readers got the most timely, breaking news from the showfloor and vendor booths. We crossed paths during a brief break and talked motherboards, and it was quickly apparent to me that he was #1 in the field for a very good reason.

To whatever you’re on to next, Anand, congratulations and best wishes from the Icrontic family.

//edit: Looks like he’s going to Apple. Congrats, Anand!
