Re: Expo Icrontic 2018 RED CARPET
DING DONG! The final @BELLS have tolled as the last attendees get their tickets in.
Re: EXPO DIA Star Wars trip!
Also note that the DIA is only 30 minutes of walking from the house. Or, 20 minutes (to Woodward) + 1 QLine stop ($3 day pass).

Re: EXPO DIA Star Wars trip!
I saw this exhibit when it was in New York. It's definitely worth a go. It's great seeing some of those costumes in person, especially seeing how poorly kept some of the original trilogy stuff is.
They got their act together for the prequels and put more effort into preservation.
EXPO DIA Star Wars trip!
Hey guys--
I recently noticed that the Detroit Institute of the Arts is having a Star Wars exhibit while we're in town for expo! I want to go, and I'm hoping others do too. I'm thinking sometime on Friday, since I'm not doing the ropes course-- perhaps leave the house at 11? I'm planning to primarily see the exhibit, since I've been to the DIA a number of times in the past, but if you haven't, I encourage you to stay longer and see the rest of the museum.
Tickets for the exhibit on Friday are $27.50-- I think they're a little cheaper in person since there's no online surcharge. I'll probably take the risk and get a ticket there. "Youths" are $7, which includes everyone under 17.
Note: I will not have a car, but if no one with a car wants to go, I'm happy to Lyft.
Let me know if you're interested in going!

Is anyone going to be bringing/providing spare computers? Jackie cannot afford a gaming laptop at this time.
I plan on it.

Re: EPIC 2018 Beer Tasting - Barrel Aged Stouts
Normally I don't like to reveal anything specific about what's going to be in my blind tastings because people will be looking for that beer in the tasting, perhaps biasing their ratings as they go through. Ideally, I want a blind to be a total black box before we start so that there's no preconceptions going in.
That being said, as far as I know we only have 11 registrants (myself excluded) through Wednesday morning (waiting to hear from @linc if there are any new signups since then) and I would really like to get to 15.
So I will try and give a little more info without giving up any of the specific beers at the tasting:
All of the beers in this tasting:
- will have been beers with fairly consistent annual/seasonal releases for at least the last 3 years
- will be aged in either bourbon or rye whiskey barrels
- will be from the bottles that are, at minimum, 18-30 months old - most of these will be the 2016 vintage
- are, as of the most recent release, available in 12oz, 12.7oz, or 16.9oz bottles, or 12 to 16oz cans
That last bullet point rules out a lot of beer, but what I'm trying to do is keep it to candidates that you could possibly open a bottle of by yourself without feeling too guilty
Some of the candidates, but not all, are on this list here, in case you want to start fantasizing about which ones may be in the tasting.
There will be an assortment of food and snacks to go along with the beer.
Hurry up and buy your expo ticket, and make sure you don't miss this.
