Re: Fight me in Miis
You can't stop me from having fun shut up

I thought I would share my experiences with my FF14 2-week free trial I've been testing out, with a bonus @UPSLynx
The game actually is pretty fun, just avoid playing Marauder as your first class.

[SPESS] 2016-04-08 SpaceX Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) 8 Launch

2016-04-08 20:43 UTC (16:43 EDT), Cape Canaveral, FL: SpaceX will be launching a Falcon 9 medium-lift launch vehicle carrying a Dragon 1 spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS) for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under the Commercial Resupply Services program. This will be the 10th flight of the Dragon 1 spacecraft and the eighth mission under the CRS contract (designated CRS-8/SpX-8) and is the return-to-flight mission for Dragon following the June 2015 launch failure of Dragon CRS-7. CRS-8 is slated to arrive at ISS at 11:00 UTC (07:00 EDT) on April 10 following a one and a half day rendezvous phasing profile.
CRS-8 is manifested to carry more cargo than any previous Dragon resupply mission: 3136 kg. The flagship payload for this mission is the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM), a demonstration inflatable habitation module. BEAM is the first commercial ISS module and the first new ISS module to be launched since the end of the shuttle program. BEAM was developed and manufactured by Bigelow Aerospace of Las Vegas, NV to be the first human-occupied inflatable habitat and perhaps the last prototype before their debut as a commercial provider for private space stations.

BEAM fully-deflated and ready for final integration into Dragon's unpressurized trunk.

Animation showing the Space Station Robotic Manipulation System (SSRMS) installing BEAM onto its new home at the International Space Station.
The weather is forecast to be 90% favorable for the 4/8 launch attempt with scattered clouds and moderate winds. The launch window is instantaneous due to the nature of the spacecraft orbital injection and as such any delay or hold will result in a 24-hour delay. In addition to the primary mission of delivering the Dragon spacecraft safely to its rendezvous with ISS, SpaceX will be making another attempt to land the first stage of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle on its Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship (ASDS) Of Course I Still Love You shortly after launch. The December 21, 2015 launch of Orbcomm OG2 resulted in a successful land landing though previous attempts at landing on the drone ship have been unsuccessful. This will be an afternoon launch providing good conditions for the launch and first stage recovery attempt. SpaceX will be providing live streaming coverage of the launch on their webcast at http://www.spacex.com/webcast/ and NASA will also be streaming the launch on their feed at http://www.ustream.tv/nasahdtv .

Failure of a landing leg lockout thwarted an otherwise-successful landing of the Falcon 9 first stage following the successful launch of the Jason-3 oceanography satellite on January 17, 2016.
Have fun and fly safe!

Re: Star Wars Rogue One Discussion
Oh! It's THAT part of the story. That's a neat moment to focus on. I look forward to seeing some Star Wars that's not directly about the Skywalker clan.

Re: Getting time for a new keyboard and mouse
Arrived today and I think I'm in love. Nice positive motion on the keys, even considering the ultra-thin design and chiclet keys. Mouse is ultra smooth and a great size for my big hands. I just need to get used to not having quite so much keyboard to the left like the Logitech had (lots of media/scroll stuff).

I don't know how this is classified as a game.... Seems more like a thinly veiled data mining app.... still, I can't stop "playing" it.
The short version is that it is a fun activity with defined rules that creates conflict of some sort and goals. In this case the goals are A: Learn about your friends and vice versa in a somewhat indirect and silly manner, and B: #HATS. The conflict is created through a money system, time, creativity, and a little luck.
The "long" version is that there are many different aspects designers consider when developing a game to appeal to players. In this case I'll be using Richard Bartle's 4 types of MUD players, which transitions somewhat well into big multiplayer games which I would consider Miitomo to be.
Bartle described his 4 types as Achievers, Explorers, Socializers, and Killers. An individual player will have mixed preferences among these 4 archtypes. Miitomo is designed to appeal predominately to the Socializers, with a nice dose of Achievement in there. In here you are "learning"* about your friends in a silly manner. You can also express yourself through simple and or silly manners with the fashion system and photo system in this game. This fashion system provides the Achievment kick by A: Adding a collection to complete. and B: Winning the special pieces through the pachinko games, with the added boost of showing off said winnings to your friends.
Through these aspects, one can argue that the game has its goals and therefore "win conditions" and offers gameplay appropriate to earn those "wins". Which makes it a game, though in a somewhat strict definition.
*Quotes cause a: you can make an answer up, and b: some questions are not realistic.
Slightly related: As I've been progressing with my classes, I've been analyzing games more and more as I learn about the design. I was considering this about Miitomo earlier today so when this question was posed I wanted to gush since it was on my mind. I've also been considering starting a thread on analyzing the design of games and discussing, but I don't know if there would be an interest in going deep into that.

You can get Jirachi through the internet Mystery Gift method now.
Also, later in May, codes will be given out in the Pokemon Trainer Club Newsletter for Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres with their hidden abilities. This offer is only valid to those who've made said trainer club account and signed up for the newsletter before April 22.
Re: Full heroic clear. Legion coming this year. Now what?
Congrats on that Title. I am sure that was painless endeavor ... lol
Re: Full heroic clear. Legion coming this year. Now what?
Ummmm i am not sure honestly.
I boosted up a Dwarf warrior (Fedoshin) to tank with and my wife is now learning to heal on her Gnome priest (Chanuk). We figured this would give us the most opportunities since prior we were both DPS. We are both around ilevel 700 thanks to Ashran farming, so we are looking to anything that involves not sitting in a Garrison. We really don't have any goals other than trying to keep interested especially since it's probably too late to bother with anything this far in the expansion. It can be PVE or PVP related doesn't matter. We are on most nights, but guild chat is pretty desolate lately.
Later.
p.s. Ohh wait i did think of one goal... Collect some tramsorg stuff.
