Re: Pandemic Playtime: The Icrontic Grand Prix
I won't be around to facilitate tomorrow's race, nor have a play tested anything.
Starting next week we will be moving race day to Fridays, first one being June 5th at 9:30pm Est.

Trivia Night 2020
@Annes and I had the pleasure of participating in a "pub trivia" via our office game master earlier today. We want to run this for others now because a) it was delightful, and b) we don't have to prep anything but a couple of Google forms. We've got the presentation and the technology. Who's in for a trivia night that isn't Jackbox, but still involving murder?
Register your interest below and I'll be getting something on the calendar for a week or so from now. I'm open to preformed teams, but randomization is possible and was fun.
EDIT: suggested time: Friday, May 29 8P or 9P EDT? Not too late on our side of the US, and not too early for West Coasties?
Links for me and Anne, will not be accessible to others: Signup and Drive Folder

Re: [Resolved] Looking for assistance with crashes, faults, bluescreens on a new build
Apologies in advance if I suggest something that’s already been tried. I’m typing on a phone and don’t have a computer nearby.
This sounds like a super weird memory issue. Since you’re passing memtest and have RMA’ed the motherboard, that leaves the RAM itself, the PSU and the CPU.
Since your RAM has passed in different combinations of quantity and location, it’s probably fine.
The PSU is less likely if you’ve seen stable voltages. Was it stable across all of the lines? I had an issue with RAID controllers because either the 3.3V or 5V would quickly drop and return to normal sometimes.
This may seem out there, but I would say this is going to be an issue with your CPU. You’re having memory access violations and kernel mode BSODs. Perhaps it’s a dud memory controller or some other component of the processor That’s only being exercised under certain conditions.
Some ideas:
1: change your memory timings off of XMP to one of the lower SPD settings. I have a Ryzen board that won’t POST if the RAM is set to anything close to XMP.
2: If you’re not running the latest BIOS, update. That board is new enough that this shouldn’t be an issue, but it never hurts to look.
Edit: to piggyback off of what @primesuspect said about the Gigabyte RMA, maybe place a mark on the board in an inconspicuous place...something like a sharpie mark on the edge. I’ve had to deal with that before, not from Gigabyte but I have seen it happen.

Re: Four day Zero to Hero Online D&D campaign in June
Quick history of Tortuga
In the early 1600s, the rocky island of Tortuga served as the chief stronghold of a motley group of adventurers, thieves and escaped slaves who preyed on Spanish treasure ships in the Caribbean. These raiders started out as a band of French hunters on nearby Hispaniola (now Haiti), and it was the French word for their method of curing meat, “boucaner,” that inspired their feared nickname: buccaneers. The buccaneers fled Hispaniola for Tortuga around 1630 after the arrival of Spanish settlers, and they soon turned to the lucrative business of piracy. To support their operations, they made Tortuga into a fortified stronghold. Jean le Vasseur, a buccaneer leader who had once worked as a military engineer, even built a 24-gun castle called Fort de Rocher to help guard the island’s harbor.
Tortuga became a prime destination for pirates, attracting men of rough character from as far as England, Holland and Portugal. As more would-be marauders arrived on the island, they organized themselves into a loose fraternity of thieves called the “Brethren of the Coast” and developed their own code of conduct. Many of the Brethren received privateer commissions from England and France, and they proved a thorn in the side of the Spanish, who responded with repeated attacks on Tortuga.

Re: Four day Zero to Hero Online D&D campaign in June
Work has begun on IC on the High Seas.
Setting: Lands of New Fey (created by me)
Lands of New Fey is an Alternate Earth setting. In 1460 Spanish explorers landed on The New World. Unlike our reality, this was not a yet undiscovered continent but a overlaying pocket dimension, a land of Magic and Monsters, and a place of infinite adventure. Lands of New Fey takes place during the Privateering days of the English Navy, the Spanish Armada, and the Dutch colonization in the islands of the Caribbean, renamed the Rumrunner Isles. Lands of New Fey is the interplay of 1720's sailing innovations, equipment, and characters with the Magic and Monsters of D&D 5e.
Zero Level Characters
Anyone starting on the Wednesday Gauntlet will create ten level 0 characters. Each character is a simple sailer on a pirate ship spending time at the beginning of the game in the notorious Pirate town of Tortuga. Rules for creating your 10 characters are here

Re: USB PC speakers?
The FiiO K3 is good. I would need better speakers to tell more, but it certainly sounds at least as nice as it did when I was driving these speakers from the 3.5 jack on the motherboard (when it was working).
I still feel like it's weird that no one has chosen to make a product that fills the niche of 'good enough USB PC speakers', but w/e. I'm not a marketing wizard.

Re: USB PC speakers?
Blootooth or wifi are not an option with this PC without buying yet more equipment. I've ordered the FiiO K3, and will report back when it arrives. It still feels silly to have a more expensive DAC than speakers, but the solution is under my original budget, so I'll give it a whirl.

Re: [Resolved] Looking for assistance with crashes, faults, bluescreens on a new build
One thing I had to researcn was what the X suffix meant for a CPU. Along the line, I discovered that X suffix CPUs could overclock well, but that they did not have builtin graphics. And the motherboard I ended up with one that had builtin graphics that could be overclocked-- but not by much.
Re: [Resolved] Looking for assistance with crashes, faults, bluescreens on a new build
Given everything that has been tried, you could try running SuperPI on all cores until it either crashes or starts spitting out a boatload of uncorrectable errors.
F@H would also work provided you switch the settings for it to be CPU only (and not dedicating a core to the GPU)
You could also post your heaven and superposition benchmarking scores and see if they're in an acceptable range for your system.
Both are long shots at this point.

Saturday 5/23 5P/6M/7C/8E - Raid Defense (Custom Map) and/or Werewolf!
I've been toying around with a new map idea, if I can get a working version of it by Saturday, we'll give it a shot. Ether way, we'll do a couple rounds of Werewolf!
