Re: Realm First: Something you don't get to see every day
Sure. The entire population of the game (several million players) is divided into separate servers, or "Realms" to handle the load. Guilds and players are tied to one specific realm, which generally has tens or hundreds of thousands of players.
Guilds on various realms compete with each other to defeat the top-tier endgame content (raids). This particular current raid (called Blackrock Foundry) has a final end boss named Warlord Blackhand. There are several difficulty levels you can attempt, with Mythic being the most difficult.
Mythic requires near perfection; an absolute top-notch team, the best gear in the game, and lots and lots of practice and minmaxing.
The first guild to complete this challenge gets a very special achievement, called "Realm First". This tier of content has been out for a month now and it has taken this long for a guild to complete it, but it happened while I was logged in. When a guild downs a boss for the first time ever on a realm, it is announced to every player on that realm at the time.
So, this guild (Royal Militia) was the first guild on Kel'Thuzad (our realm), to defeat Blackhand on Mythic difficulty. A one-of-a-kind achievement that nobody can ever get again

Day Two
After waking up at about 9:00 am CDT, we went to a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant called Niecie's Restaurant on E. 63rd St. I had a double cheeseburger, which was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the staff was really friendly.
Afterwards, we went by the house to drop off our leftovers, and then proceeded to go to a place called FleaMart, over on E. US Highway 40. It is a great place and I spent a bit of time looking around for some collectables. I managed to find a couple that I will take back to Indianapolis with me. The stuff I bought are:

1992 Indy 500 Winner's Car (Al Unser Jr.) and Pace Car (1992 Cadillac Allante) diecasts
After FleaMart, we went across the street to Old Time Pottery. To me, the place was pretty boring. It's supposed to be like a craft place but I didn't see anything I liked.
When we left Old Time, I was then informed that, as I said earlier, my mom's friend had been able to aquire tickets to the Royals/Tigers game on Thursday. I was, and still am, ecstatic that I will be going to my first MLB game.
We then proceeded to head back to the house where we stayed and had dinner. My mother and her friend then proceeded to go to the casino, where they still are as I write this. Currently, one of Terica's (name of my mother's friend) daughters is learning the way of the Xbox.
All in all, even though we didn't do much today, it was still a pretty good day. I look forward to the number of things to do tomorrow and later on.

IRON MAIDENS HEROIC DOWN
Finally, after dozens of attempts, we have downed Iron Maidens on Heroic difficulty.
I have to admit, in my WoW raiding history, this was one of the more frustrating (yet strangely satisfying) raid encounters. I think the core problem is that the fight's length feels unbalanced compared to the rest of them. Grinding away at relatively easy parts of the fight for 15 minutes only to repeatedly wipe over and over again on the last phase (hitting a difficulty wall) was pretty intense. Every time we wiped, the idea of slogging through the first two phases of the fight again were very demoralizing.
Despite its shortcomings, the fight is definitely fun, mechanics-wise, and that's its saving grace.
