Why is my modem not connecting?

Hey guys,

As some of you may know, I have been having issues with my internet. It was manageable at first, but now it's hit a new low. The modem we have is registering activity in the line, but it can't connect to DSL, leaving me in the dark (I'm using my uncle's internet right now). I am just wanting to know what is going on and if it fixable.

This sounds like a problem only your ISP can solve, to be honest.

Great. So now I have to rely on AT&T to do something right? :P

Unfortunately, yes. All of that gear is black-box, and the extent of troubleshooting is power-cycling and making sure the cables are connected properly. Everything else is on the other end.
