my computer started running realy slow again like last time so i try restarting and i get brought to black screen sayaing...
Windows could not start because the following file is missing
or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system

you can attemt to repair this file by starting windows setup
using the original setup cd-rom
select 'r' at the first screen to start repair

... well thats what i did last time and it worked, just my profile was deleted no harm. this time i did the same thing and first off the recovery console said it couldnt even detect my c partition so i tryed again the next day and i got to run chkdsk and it said the data checked was good and didnt neet checked so i checked anyways and it found one or more data corrupt or missing. i tried restarting and it went back to the original screen. i have no idea i thought maybe my hard drive could be corrupt so if anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it please get back to me soon before i buy a new hard drive.

    Give us some specifics of your setup, both hardware, software and if you have it overclocked.

    A couple of things come to mind. First, have you run any hard drive diagnostic utilities from your hard drive manufacturer to check out your hard drive? If not, then go and d/l their diagnostic utilities and run them. Also, download and run memtest86 to see if you might be having some problems with your memory, since you are overclocking fairly high. If you've pushed the fsb speed higher than your memory can handle, it might be causing these problems.

    Sounds like you've got a corrupt hive. This happened to me a few days ago when an overclocking session went awry. First, make sure you're running stock speeds. Second, follow this page on how to repair the hive. You're going to need the WinXP install CD. Boot up and run the recovery console. Follow the instructions and you should be good to go.

    You'll have to do a system restore back to the last restore point before the problems occurred.
