I dunno if you are into it, but The Who live from Leeds is my favorite vinyl album.

If you're going to get The Wall, you also need to get Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, and Wish You Were Here. As for Mars Volta, get Frances the Mute and Amputechture. Might I also suggest Old Money by Omar Rodríguez-López?

Queen: A Night at the Opera (We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody). I think Brian May's guitar sound is uniquely suited for the analog medium, and this album has some (IMO) stellar examples.

If you haven't setup an account on Discogs, I'd recommend it. It's a great tool for managing your collection and wantlist, and if you're looking for hard-to-find stuff it can help you with purchasing it from other members. Here's my link:

I'm a huge fan of the following record labels:
    https://soundcloud.com/45seven
    https://soundcloud.com/zamzam-sounds

Pretty much if they press something, it's on my list.

I'm also looking for the following on vinyl:

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
    Bedhead - Transaction de Novo
Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X (omg so expensive)
    Sneaker Pimps - Bloodsport
    Sneaker Pimps - Splinter

I love buying from http://www.ebreggae.com/ when there's not a local store around that has what I want.

FWIW, I have the Pink Floyd essentials in the house already.

We acquired my grandfather's polka albums (among a few others) and their console stereo that is from the 50s, in mint condition. The thing has vacuum tubes in it, and sounds wonderful. And of course the archivist in me loves that I also have the original receipt and manual from him purchasing it. :)

I feel like we also need to expand and get some other cool vinyl. Loving some of the collections here. Especially @BuddyJ Miles Davis. Yesssss. May need some John Coltrane in my collection.

Sadly I just moved and my Vinyl collection is still in storage. My dad was a DJ in the 70s and he gave me all 1500 of his vinyl LPs, I still haven't listened to all of them.

In addition to what @Kwitko mentioned, no Pink Floyd collection is complete without "Meddle". Yes "Fragile" and Alice Cooper are essential must haves as well.

I simultaneously love and hate this thread. I love it because fuck yeah, vinyl! I hate it because I lost my old collection, and with a babby on the way, neither time nor money to remedy the situation.

Mildly interesting fact: The cover of Meddle is an ear underwater, with sound waves rippling through the water.

I'll have to start going through my collection tonight and adding it...
