Mobile XP2600's at Newegg!!

edited March 2004 in Hardware
They have some mobile 2600 procs at newegg for $105. I just ordered 1 to try out. I've heard that the mobile 2500's will overclock to the 2.4-2.7 range so I have high hopes that these might overclock even better.:D

I guess we'll find out what they are like early next week.

They O/C that high on air?

If you can get 2.5GHz or better (on air) I might spring for one and try myself.

Yeah, they were getting it on air. We'll see early next week when it comes in.

Well, Mr Fedex just dropped by my house with the mobile 2600. Here is the OPN off of it:

    AXMG2600FQQ4C 2368322K30035
    IQYHA0346TPMW

I'm about to pull the Asus rig down to give it a try because the Asus has an MCX462 in it which is easier to remove than the SLK800 on the NF7-S board. I should be able to test it up to over 2400 with that board. If it's still kicking arse at the max I can do in the Asus, then I will transfer it to the Abit board and really wring it out.

    Don't be afraid to give it 2.0vcore. Mine's running @ 2500 w/ 2.0 vcore 51c running F@H for a week straight.

Here's a big scan of the chip. You will notice that the L3 bridges are set for a 6 multi as read by a desktop board; just the same as the 2400m. Also, you will notice that the L11 bridges are set for a default 1.575v, not 1.425v like Newegg's web page says on the 2600m. Another thing I noticed is that the L6 bridges are different from my 2400m. The 2400m has all of the L6 bridges cut but this 2600m has the top 2 L6 bridges cut. These must control the max multi a laptop sees for the proc, IMO.

    But the prices, ouch.
Two weeks ago a 2400M was $79, now it is $86.
As of noon on Tuesday they show the 25 and 26 OOS.

    Well, how does it fly?

Nice Batchnumber on that mobile as well , Mud. :)
  • edited February 2004
Which numbers denote the batch number, Mack?

When do we get down to the goodies MUdd? pop it in and pump it up. Gives us some temps atleast :) but thanks for the pictures.

    Btw. I'm in, Baton Rouge

Well, I'm running it up kind of slow for now. I've got it at the speed my mobile 2400 was at in that board presently; 2315 for now.

The last 3 numbers are the batch number. So 035. Clocked down from a 3000+. 30035

Number 35 on the wafer which is pretty darn close to the middle.
Have you got any decent cooling to test that cpu on?
  • mmonninmmonnin Centreville, VA
    edited February 2004
By how well do you mean decent? He said he had an SLK-800 on the NF7. I dont know if you mean Phase, water or good air cooling. Just wondering what you mean by 'decent'.

The question wasn't for you in the first place.
As far as i know, Mudd have some WC or even a pelt setup.
  • edited February 2004
No Mack, no watercooling or pelt on it, just high end air. The NF7 has a SLK800 with a 68 cfm Delta on a TT 3 speed fan switch. Maybe later this year I will be able to scrape up some extra bux to watercool another rig or 2 though. I would like to watercool the nf7 and the ic7-g rigs eventually. I would really like to have a prometia but I just can't swing the $1000 to buy into that game like you.

BTW, how are you coming along with that project?:)

Dude whats your problem. I was just wondering what your perspective of good cooling was. I know you have a Promy but I was just wondering if thats the high end cooling you meant or just air. Chill.

You started this with your previous post. I'll do you a favor and stay away from SM from now on. Congrats, mmonnin, you have suceeded in getting rid of another member. Good work! You have had a hostile attitude towards me (and some others which i won't mention) for a good while now for a reason that is beyond my imagination.

Mudd, the prommy is working like a champ, i'm using it 24/7 and have had zero problems with it. The only thing is that i need a 120mm radiator to be able to use WC in the system if i want to use the original case from Nventiv. As it is righ now, the tower is close to a meter high. No picnic carrying it to a LAN.

Well, I put it into my NF7-S this morning and immediately went to over 2500 MHz to try it out. So far it's been folding at this speed with the vcore shown in cpu-z for about an hour with no problem. I will leave it here for a while longer before I bump the speed up some more.:) My temps running at 48 C folding right now.

This is my stepping: AXMG2600FQQ4C Z374272K31024 IQYHA 0348 SPMW. I have it in an NF7-S doing 200 FSB X 13.5 @1.85 Vcore, 31c idle/48c full load. I just got this processor and I'm checking it out. I haven't had much time with it but will keep all posted.
BTW, I've been all up and down Cajun Country: Baton Rouge, Morgan City, Lafayette, the Nachitoches trail, New Orleans, Metarie. I lived in Baton Rouge for about a year and had lots of fun!

You guys are going to make me spend the last little bit of money I have from last summer on a pair or trio of Mobile Athlon 2600s if you're not careful, you know that? ;D

    More info on 2600 Mobile
So far, 2762.5 Mhz (204.63 FSB X 13.5 @1.95 Vcore) on air cooling (SLK-900U, 92mm Vantec Tornado 119cfm @4200rpm)). Booted into Windows without any "iffyness" and it appears to be running OK. Haven't Primed, just wanted to see the highest it would do. Will post as I go along!

For Geeky1: Is there a cure?

Stable numbers (so far) on Mobile 2600:

2727 Mhz (202 FSB X 13.5 @1.95 Vcore), 36c idle/46c Prime95. I think this is near the high end of stability, running Prime95 for about an hour now. I think my 24/7 numbers are going to be 200 FSB X 13.5 @1.93 Vcore.

I always felt a good stepping 2600 had more promise than a 2500 however, I don't know much about the stepping I've got : AXMG2600FQQ4C Z374272K31024 IQYHA 0348 SPMW. About the only thing I know is that the batch number is low (024) and it appears to be a relabeled 3.1 Ghz? If anybody has more info on this stepping, please post it. Thanks!

    Hi All!

These are the numbers for the 2600 Mobile after running Prime95 all night long:

    208.81 FSB X 13= 2715 Mhz @1.95 Vcore. I couldn't get it past 208 FSB, not even dropping down to 12.5 multiplier. I don't think it's my motherboard/memory 'cause I've had other processors at 219 FSB, to include a Mobile 2500.

speed_x, what are you using to cool the chip?
  • edited March 2004
    Hi t1rhino..

I'm using an SLK-900-U Thermalright with a Vantec 119 CFM 92mm at 4200 rpm (no way I would run the thing full speed/it sounds like 10,000 screaming Banshees on full). The surface of the heatsink was lapped to a mirror finish using wet/dry sandpaper grits from 220 all the way to 2000. It took about 3 hours to do it, a real labor of love..my arm is still tired.
The computer is a little louder than most but not "disturbing." I have a total 112 cfm flow through the case and a blowhole up top, with a 120 mm fan.

Hey speed X those are some awsome overclocks. Can you post some bench marks I'm curious to see what kind of performance your getting out of it.

I have a nf7s 2.0 coming in on friday.. hopfully I'll be able to reach 2700's with my mobile 2500.

    Komete:
I haven't done some serious benchmarkin 'cause I'm looking for a higher FSB (now at 208) I remember PC Mark 2002: Procesor 8100, memory 5800.

I'm really hoping to be able to run this at 225+ FSB, 240 would be to die for!

BTW, I think I remember you saying you are in Baton Rouge, La? I lived down there for about a year and really liked the place. Maybe one day I'll return!

    EDIT: I'm now running 225 X 12 @1.95 Vcore and my scores for PC Mark 2002 are : Processor 8334, memory 6449 3/26/2004

EDIT: Using the Taipan bios (D26_ver.2.0.05_TaiPan_0.1_23.09.04 CPC On)
    FSB 234 X 11.5 (2.7 Ghz), 1.95 Vcore
