Problems with new budget PC. Proc not reading right speed, scrnsvr not working.

edited February 2004 in Hardware
Howdy guys, I got my budget PC up and running for my buddy.

AMD Xp 2000+
Biostar M7VIG Pro-D
256 Kingston PC3200
40 Gig WD SE

But a couple of problems have come up.

1) I can only get it to run as a 1600+
These are the options available to me for changing the cpu:

Frequency Control, CPU Host/PCI Clock:
100/66/33mhz
105/70/35mhz
110/73/37mhz
120/60/30mhz

I have it set at 110/73/37mhz right now. I forgot to mention that if I set it to 120/60/30mhz then the system hangs and I have to reset the CMOS.

The ram options are:
Current FSB Frequency (I can't change this one)
Current DRAM Frequency (I can't change this one)
DRAM Clock: 100, 133, By Spd
Dram Timings: By SPD or Manual

2) I can't get the screensaver to go on for some reason. I'm going to try changing a couple of things in the bios for that though.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-DaK

There's probably a jumper on the board to switch between 100MHz and 133/166MHz FSBs. A lot of boards have them (K7D-L, A7N8X, etc.)

Ah beautiful, good call man, thanks. Now another thing. When I turn the PC on I have to press F1 for it to actually continue onto Windows. It just kind of sits at the screen where it shows the HD and Burner etc until you press F1. Any idea on that? And the screensaver still doesn't work :).

but it could be folding for you.

There should be a switch in the bios for skipping the check on boot that requires F1.
