I have a quck question about the new Athlon XP Thorton chips. I know someone who wants to upgrade his chip but he says his board only supports up to an XP 2400+. Can he put in a Thorton 2400+? I dont know the make/model of the board.

Anyone able to help?

I have a sneaky feeling it might be an Abit KX7r.

Quick answer is yes but he should check the manufactures site for a bios update. maybe he can mod his thorton`s L2 to Enable the Extra Cache. :) and turn it into a Barton.

It should work, but if the board is sufficiently old, it may not.
