Mobile Athlon. Should I?

NewEgg has the Mobile AXPs in stock again.
2400+ for $77
2500+ for $100
2600+ for $112
There are others, but those are the only ones that I care about.

I'd like to hit 2.5GHz or better. The reviews on the 2400+ are a bit spotty, but are newer batches doing as well as the 2500+ and 2600+ chips? Should I spend the extra money for the 2500+ or should I really splurge and get the 2600+?

Maybe I won't get any. I'm at 2.3GHz right now so would another 200MHz or even 300MHz make a big difference? Would it be worth $77-$112? Of course, I do need a new chip since I purchased the refurb NF7 board so why not get something that can run faster than anything I've got? Ahh, choices, choices. I love technology! :)

Without a doubt that's what I'd get ...and off the top off my head with not much research at all I'd go for the 2500+ ...http://forums.amdmb.com/showthread.php?threadid=301231

I haven't found the cieling yet on my new 2600. I'm presently at 2520 at 1.8 volts and stable as a rock. I have to go to work in the morning for 2 weeks so I'm just going to leave it here until I get back in. I'm presently getting a P4 2.6 up and hopefully folding before I have to leave for work.

EDIT: I'm not sure if this 2600m even needs 1.8v; Ijust set that in bios and started getting after it.

Well, I went ahead and got the 2500+.
It is Mudd's thread on the 2600+ that really got me interested, but after reading the reviews of the 2500+ I figured the extra performance I might gain from a 2600+ might not be worth the $112.

I also ordered this. Hopefully that 80mm fan will cool better than the 92mm fan I have. Not only can it push more air than my 92mm fans, but it is more focused and as GH's thread showed, the more focused airflow should help cooling.

Anyway, I'll be sure to let you all know how my O/C'ing adventures go w/ the 2500+ XP-M! I really want 2.5GHz or better, hopefully better. :D Now I just need to find those 80mm clips that came w/ my SLK-900(U) so that I can hold the fan on the HS. :)

Now, if that NF7 refurb board works I should be able to get close to 2.3GHz out of it (just take my current chip and put it in that system). Oh yeah! :) Now maybe I can hold witenoiz off a few more days! ;D

Keep us posted, mudd. My dually system runs HOT (~130*F+ on both CPUs) because those stupid 2500s (desktop CPUs) aren't stable in SMP at >2.2GHz, even with 1.85v

I may get a couple of the 2600s, but I'm going to wait and see how yours turns out, and how other people get along first. It's not exactly a pressing issue, since the dually hadn't even been turned on all month, until last night. :D
