Memory Question

Which would be best for an NF7/NF7-S v2.0 board:

PC3700 @ CAS3
-or-
PC3500 @ CAS2

The contenders are:
Kreton 512MB PC3700 3-4-4-8 $95
Kingston HyperX 512MB PC3700 3-4-4-8 $114

Kreton 512MB PC3500 2-3-3-7 $92
Mushkin 512MB Level One PC3500 2-3-3 $113

$19 difference between the PC3700 memories and $21 difference between the PC3500 memories. Is Kreton any good (I've never used nor known anyone that has used it) though the PC3500 does have 3 positive reviews. Since this is an AXP not a p4 I'm thinking the PC3700 @ CAS3 would be a waste and if the reviews of the PC3500 Kreton are indicative of what I might get then the $21 would be better off saved rather than being spent on the Mushkin.

What do you memory guys think?

    PC3500 CAS2.

I'd get Mushkin simply because it's a known quality.

Thanks Thrax, and only 6 minutes. Pretty quick on the trigger there, bud. :) You been working out?

    Thanks too, Geeky.

Right now I'm "window shopping" with a strong inclination to purchase. :) As for how many? Probably 2.

so why not go with twin pack and tighter timings like level 2?

I agree and would go with the Level II so you could run tighter timings agd squeeze all you could out of that rig. I'm running 2x512 of the 3500 Level II and love it!

BTW, my cat helped me type this. ;)

I don't see any Mushkin with tighter timings than 2-3-3 for PC3500, and I see no Muskin at all for PC3700. I already have Kingston HyperX PC3200 so if I get new memory it will be PC3500 or better.

you're right ...I don't even see pc3500 lvl2 at the mushkin sight anymore.
what fsb are you planning on running?

My understanding is that all lvl2 had BH5 chips. When their stock ran out, they stopped making them. Good thing I bought mine while I could, I suppose. :D:vimp:

I was just wanting to get high speed memory. :) PC3200 is fine, but I figured since I already have PC3200 I'd get something better and take my KHX and put it into a newer (slower) system.
