What will your next system(s) be?
I'm hoping to get a couple new computers as graduation/birthday presents this summer... here's what I've got in mind:
<UL>Desktop
<li>ASUS, ABIT, MSI, or Tyan dual S939 board
<li>2 S939 Opterons @ the highest speed available at the time
<li>2-4GB DDR
<li>ATi R420 or NV40
<li>SATA or SCSI RAID w/4x 74GB Raptors or 74GB Seagate 15,000RPM SCSIs
<li>8x (or faster) DVD+RW/-RW
<li>52x+ CD-RW
</ul>
<ul>Laptop
<li>Probably a Sager, possibly something else
<li>15"+ screen w/1280x1024+ resolution, preferably not a widescreen
<li>AMD Athlon 64 or P4 CPU, possibly a Centrino, but I doubt it
<li>1GB+ DDR, dual channel if I go with the P4
<li>ATi Radeon 9700m/256MB, unless something else comes out that's faster
<li>7200rpm hard drive, possibly a RAID array + a backup drive (the Sager 8890 takes 3 hard drives internally...)
<li>DVD+RW/-RW
</ul>
That's what I have planned... What about you?
//Edit
Since so many people are constantly upgrading their systems rather than buying entirely new ones, I figured I'd add a little list of upgrades I'm considering:
<UL>NF7-S system
<li>Replace 1800+ JIUHB DLT3C w/Mobile 2600+
<li>Upgrade R9700 Pro to 9800XT or R420
</ul>
<ul>K7D-L system
<li>Replace dual 2500s with dual mobile 2600s
<li>Replace R8500 with the replacement 9700 Pro for the dead one I need to RMA
<li>Replace Toshiba DVD-ROM with a DVD-RW/+RW when they're about 50% of what they cost now (I've already got a DVD burner in the NF7-S, so I don't need another one)
</ul>
<ul>"Print Server" MSI Pro266TD-LR
<li>RMA the MSI board so I can get the K7S5A/1700+ out of it
<li>Replace the 1700 in the K7S5A with dual 1GHz PIIIs for the MSI board
<li>Throw the extra 512MB of DDR I have sitting around into the MSI board (for a total of 1.5GB)
<li>add a 3rd hard drive (160GB+)
<li>Replace Radeon 9000 with the Radeon 8500 that's currently in the K7D
</ul>
<ul>Tyan S1837 "Thunderbolt" 440GX
<li>Replace dual 450MHz PIIIs with dual 800MHz+ PIIIs in Upgradeware Slotkets
<li>Upgrade to 512MB PC133
<li>Get it in a case, with a hard drive of its own so it doesn't have to use my firewire enclosure's drive
<li>floppy, cd-rw drives
</ul>
<ul>Supermicro S2DGU 440GX Xeon board
<li>Replace dual 400MHz/512k Xeons with 500MHz+ 1MB/2MB Xeons or 2 1.4GHz PIII Tualatins in Powerleap adapters
<li>Turn it into a working system, not just a motherboard and CPUs sitting on my printer
</ul>
<ul>Supermicro P6DLS 440LX
<li>Turn it into a working system, not just a motherboard sitting on top of another motherboard on top of my printer
</ul>

Neither of these will happen till Doom3 or HL2 are released. Nor will I buy much of anything till I get a new job.

But I am currently debating between the 14 Inch iBook G4 15 inch iMac .
What can I say. I want OS X. I'm sick of Windows and all it's clunkyness. It's time to evolve.
//EDIT: Fixed links.
Actually, have you heard of Rhapsody DR2?
But when I do get a new system, it must contain all thenewest technology... PCI Express, or PCI-X something or another.... BTX form factor, completly new video card that is not an upgrade of an existing card(3 yrs. running now?)
You get the drift, it won't be for at LEAST a year, I JUST CANNOT AFFORD IT ANYMORE!!!!!
Do yourself a favor. If you're getting a Mac, get a good Mac. You can go ahead and get the retail Mac ATI Radeon 9800 Pro too.

Even if it's an Intel???
Fixed my links.
Thanks for the advice but that bad boy is almost 2 grand without a monitor. And I really don't want it for gaming so no need for a Mac Radeon9800 Pro. When Doom III gets here I will buy a PC 9800 Pro w256MB Ram. (In fact they are down around 300$ now). This mac will be for everyday stuff like email, web surfing, downloading stuff. Stuff that I am tired of using Windows for. Also my girlfriend is going back to school. That served as a perfect excuse to invite a new notebook into the family .
Not until you mentioned it here.
A google search basically tells me its a GUI based on Xerox's original mouse and keyboard plans. Kind of like the Mac Lisa OS.
I am into purty colors and stuff, which is another reason I am so partial to OS X.
Rhapsody DR2 looks a little primative at this point. Do you know if it is available for x86 platform?
