I bought a raidmax scorpio case and 1 smart fan II in front and in rear and 1 raidmax generic in front and back, also I have a 80mm tornado im running on average high 40's like 47-48 C is that okay? Also its folding at full force and has a red cathode. I might say screw it and go watercooling I was looking at the ThermalTake Aquarius II anyone hear anything about it?

What heatsink, what CPU, what clockspeed & voltage? What are the case temps? Have you cleaned the heatsink recently?

its a barton 2500+ barton with stock voltage and speed, case temp is low 30's 31-34. It has a sk-7 with AS5

Warmer than what it prolly should be for stock. My 1800@2.3 ran cooler than but it did have some better cooling.

I am guessing you dont have much airflow over than SK-7?

    How were the fans orientated?

1 smart fan 2 and a genric raidmax sucking air in, 1 smart fan 2 and generic raidmax sucking air out and a 80mm tornado blowing on the cpu, also 1 genric raidmax on the window blowing in

Bud, does that case have those stamped grills over the fan locations with the little holes? If so, cutting those out with a Dremel and replacing them with wire fan grills with both dramatically improve case airflow and cut down on flow noise as those stamped fan holes are incredibly restrictive. By replacing them with wire type fan grills you will improve case airflow, which it sounds like you have problems with.

Well, my case is at 32 C and CPU is at Barton 2800+ Rates (also a Barton 2500+ stock porocessor, retail) and is 47 C right now (under 99% load). I use an SLK-900 HS, a Panaflo 08A12H fan, and Ceramique compound. I HAVE had the Barton running at 49 C for a day straight, it still works fine, so technically you are not yet killing it but I would see if you can cool it off a couple C more to 4 C more while you have room in its acceptable heat range and before things get hotter outside and inside.

Berfore anyone tells me case is too hot, I know it is about 2 C warmer than ideal, room temp is 26 C in shade right on front top of case. Time to get dust bunnies out of fan filter in front again....

Are all the fans running at full rpm? If so, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to water because quite frankly, that might be a hassle for you. However the Thermalright SP97 (Check for Motherboard Compatibility) is an excellent upgrade and provides a large drop in temps from SLK900,947,948 and especially an SK7.

Right now I've got a 2400-M running @ 2.56GHz w/ 2.0vcore @ 48c full load. I've got a Tt SmartFan2 running at full speed on top of it. Two intake SF2's running @ 1/2 speed. As well as two Sunon ~50CFM fan running full speed as exhaust and blowhole fans. All of this is in a Lian Li PC61.

That's higher than I'd expect. Have you cleaned the heatsink lately? I'm tempted to blame it on the case, but I can't say for sure that that's what it is yet...

Al I have the same CPU, OC, Mobo, Fan, and yet I have about 50C on a SLK-900. Its not that much better. Plus I dont have all the case fans.

what about that aerocool heatsink? Geeky1 the geatsink is clean i just put it togther about 2 days ago. yeah I do have the stamped metal there I better go get a dremel and get rid of that metal.

    I'm running at 2.56GHz & 2vCore. I don't know why I put 1.92 & 2.5GHz, but trust me. I went from an SLK947 to an SP-97 and my temps dropped 4-5C.

Don't get the aerocool. Thermalright is the only way to go.

k i guess Im going to newegg. Does sound damping material make you case hotter?
  • edited March 2004
Yeah, it's like wrapping the case in a towel or blanket, the case ceases to radiate heat through the panels so the heat is only removed by the case fans and PSU fan.
