Well after many trials and tribulations I am happy to report that SM20 is completed and folding on her own.

Thanks to Mr K and the rest of the team for having the paticents with me and SM20 to see this through. I hope we are over the hump now and will get many a WU from this rig. :)

Cheers,

Good to hear she's running ok SM20. Into the 300 aswell, quite an achievement in itself. Lots of friendly competition, lol.

Must admit, my other half, Sally is motoring along and unfortunately has you, amongst others in her sights.

Yesterday started the day of in position 329. Now in position 308, SORRY. :-/

Hope SM20 keeps going problem free.:cheers:

    That's great news, "G"!

How about posting the final specs of the rig, since we had so many problems getting her going. I know I sent you my old KG7-R mobo and I know that you ran into quite a few other problems, so much so that we were teasing you about naming her SM20_the_cursed. :hair::D

    1600+ is 1.4GHz stock.

Whats the temps, can you OC a little?
  • gtghmgtghm New
    edited March 2004
Not looking to OC at this point, given the history... please forgive me...
I have to go into the BIOS and change the multi as it defaulted to 1150mhz and widoz thinks its a 1.15ghz CPU...

I have to double check what was sent, I might have to adjust the BIOS manually.

Ok not sure why but the BIOS is set to 1600 (100) auto and it boots fine however it comes up as 1150mhz. If I go to 1600 (133) no boot so something is holding her back but to keep her stable and runnning I really don't want to rock the boat at this point.
Maybe after a while I can dive into it...

BTW, temps are in the 31-35C range.

    Ok, heres what we're at...
I must have forgoten my AMD XP math because I have upeed the CPU voltage to full throtle and the Dim voltage to full throtle and I have system boot at what the system thinks is an XP 1800 at 1.54ghz.
So I think that we are over clocking this as if I remember right I tihnk that the 1700 is the 1.4 so the 1.2 or (1.15 in this case) might be right for the 1600.

Temp are in the high 30's (37c) at the current config.
If the system is stable and dosen't over heat I'll keep her here for a bit unless the team wants me to be more consertive...?

Ok, did some more checking and indeed the 1600, (which almost everybody here already new I bet...) is the 1.4ghx chip. So thats really weird....
The BIOS is set to the multi of 10.5 and 133 yet the BIOS recognizes it as an XP 1800 at 1.54ghz so does the OS... Guess that it really dosen't matter as long as it runs and dosen't over heat...

Hey, QCH, your /sig says: "Be Devote and Promote", but don't you mean "Devout"? Grammatically speaking, you could "Be Devoted and Promote," but you can't "Be Devote." It just doesn't make any sense. You can be promoted, but not "promote," you can be demoted, but not "demote," etc.

But none of that rhymes... I'm using ... uh ... real old english translation of the ancient hebrew version of the Tibetan Monk "Dalai Lama" speach back when he was washing his sandles after a mud storm in 1256 (127 years off of our calender... it would be 1129 AD). Yeah, that's it... the Dalai Lama....

So, it is a incorrect translation....

Can part of one's being be an attitude??? The word for the attitude can be "I am devote (to a cause or belief set, it implies devotion), and yes in older times gone by, devote was used for devoute as now used and in soem english variants it is STILL valid that way. so, lets take a belief set-- If one is deeply believing, than one has a major part of his\her being involved, devoted or devoute or devote is what one is in major part. So be devote and promote says what is meant, short and sweet. I would say "I am devoted & promote my devotion," but.... The end sense suffixes do not have to be absolute identicals in free verse.

Yes, I know any of these changes will subtly change the meaning and rhyming, but base meaning is in the use of figures of speech as emphatics....

if you want a rhyme, change to this:

"I believe & live what I believe." Part of living something deep down is promoting or sharing beliefs one holds dear.

I wondered about the BIOS needing updated too, but for now have decided to bag it and let her run like she is. According to the the OS system info shes at 1.54 and stable. Maybe in a few days I'll look into it. For now though I think I'll let her go so that we can all bask in the sun of her greatness... :)

Temps are at 35C, BTW I used AS5 for the HS goop, stuff seems to work great.

G, the bios on that mobo is fine for any pally proc you throw in it. It's not the latest bios but is 1 of the last few updated bios's and it will recognize Tbred B procs.

Sounds like you presently must have it set to 11.5 X 133 in bios, huh? That is XP1800 settings. I'm assuming that that XP1600 is unlocked, BTW. If you aren't sure if it's unlocked on not, then just set the fsb to 133 and the multi to default in soft menu and reboot and see what she comes up as. That mobo never gave any problems at all with pally procs when I was using them in it.

Check with CPU-Z to see what its clocked at.
  • gtghmgtghm New
    edited March 2004
MM, According to CPU-Z its a Paly XP 1800. Clock is 1537.4MHz Multi x11.5 FSB 133.7 Buss Speed 267.4
Says that the BIOS is 6.00 PG date 03/06/2003

I think that we'll leave it there as it seems to working just fine.

Mud, I'm sure that this board is fine. Seems like it fast and stable. I always like the AMD761 chipset for stability... :)

Must be that the CPU has been unlocked making it post kinda weird or something, at this point according to the figures, its running great and its OC'ed a little, so
I tihnk we leave it alone... Thats my vote :)

Well, you asked, so: no. If someone told me that they were "devote" to a cause, I'd think them an idiot for using a verb in place of a transitive verb (I am "devoted" to a cause). I wouldn't be rude and call them an idiot, but I would think it.... Also, the word devote comes from the Latin word "devovere" which means "to vow," which may partially explain why the word was spelled "devoute" when it was originally anglicized, but since it hasn't really been spelled that way since the early 1600s, methinks you should jump on the "devout" train. Finally, I'm curious as to the source of your statement that "devote was used for devoute." I'm not aware of that ever having been the case, with the obvious exception of misspellings and/or misprintings by a printer. If this topic really interests you, I highly recommend Richard Altick and John Fenstermaker's The Art of Literary Research, specifically their discussion on Error: Its Prevalence, Progress, and Persistence.

This has been a very :topic: day for me... :buck:
