What's your favorite CPU of all time?

I started a thread like this at Icrontic a long, long, LONG time ago. I figured I'd bring it back. The question is simple: what is your favorite CPU?

Mine is either the Pentium III/Celeron Tualatins, or the Mobile Athlon XPs. They both are extremely fast CPUs (on a speed relative to MHz scale), and they both run nice and cool, with low power requirements.

    Voyager's central processor.

Does something like 375 trillion computations per nanosecond. :D

My Favorite is whatever I have at the time... ;D

But Really => The Athlon XP Mobile - for making 2.5ghz an attainable goal.

My next favorite is going to be a 90nm Opterons 3.0-3.2ghz anyone?!?

Damn. You guys are right. I totally forgot about the A64/Opterons. I'll get that fixed asap... take out the Via C3 option. Everyone hates those things anyhow. :D;D

Tough pick for me, I have a lot of favorite CPU's.

    1. My dual Opteron 248's.
    2. My PowerPC 750FX.
    3. My dual 1.1GHz Coppermines.
    4. My Pentium 233MMX.
    5. My Motorola 68040.
    6. My 486DX4 Overdrive.

I guess that puts me in the "Other" category. ;D

I voted for the athlons/durons. The first cpu I ever overclocked from 750 to 954 on a Abit kt7a-raid. It was at Icrontic that I first learned all about building a pc. I loved it so much I still have the cpu. I've always wanted to drill a hole in it and make it a key chain but I just don't have the hart.

Same here. When I OC'd my first Athlon (an 850) I caught the bug. When I had two comps running T-Bird 1200's @ 1400 I became an addict for life.

Can't argue with Bothered, though. :thumbup

Possibly the 35W power dissipation at 1.4GHz, plus the fact that they own 1.8GHz P4's at that speed. And that they're over $200 today, four years after the fact.

It would be tough for me.. Between the Pentium M and the Tualatin..

Funny how I consider myself an AMD fanboy, but my two favorite CPUs are Intel products.... :wtf:

Pentium M is possibly the most well designed CPU in . . . ever, at least that's mainstream.

Intel might be adding layers to the .130nm p4EE and other Xeon chips. I guess they want to be able to offer the higher clock frequency to Xeon customers w/out frying those mobos with a Prescott-core Xeon.

Actually 2 more options can be added.

I also have to go with the P3 Tualatin procs; it's too bad that Intel decided to concentrate on the P4 instead. They are as fast as an Athlon at their clock speed and ran rings around all the P4 willies of their time, no matter what clock speed the willie was running. Plus, they were moderate power usage procs and very easy to cool, even when overclocking. If there were some mainstream desktop boards out right now that supported the Pentium M, I would probably be exploring their performance also, since they are an evolution of the Tualatins.
