It wouldn't have helped to preorder it... Not from EB anyway... Two out of the three people who I know who did preorder it, were told that it was sold out when they went to pick it up

So... we learned that EB doesn't guarantee to hold a copy for you if you if you preorder... so what's the point of preordering then? BAH!

(PS: I'm the third person... the one who got a copy... Joe walked in the store WITH ME and didn't get a copy)

I was addicted to the demo, ctf and onslaught levels. So I picked up the game on saturday.. this thing is massive.. I know theres other game modes but haven't even tried them yet because I love onslaught so much.. lol. I worked every night last weekend (9 days straight), it's been crazy.. so here's hoping it lets up soon...

    Hmmm
well im playen ut2k4 now. But it is running like crap.
The demo was smoken and ut2003 is smoken on my pc but this game chuggs at times.
I turned the graphics back to normal or lower, 1024X768. I cant have anything running in the back ground or the larger maps will be laggy almost.
    specs:
    p42.4 533
    512mb pc1066 rambus
    ATI 9700pro
    WD 80gb 8mb

    Any ideas?

I noticed that too, the demo ran smooth as silk but the actual game runs a lot slower. I don't know why. So I just set most everything to "Low" in graphics options, 16 bit textures, et al. On the upside, I can still run F@H with no problems while playing.

Whats the max resolution you guys can go to? In mine it says 1600x1200. The demo could go alot higher than that....weird.

First, disable "Precache of skins" in the settings, as that will greatly reduce your level load times.

Secondly, enable "Hardware 3D Audio". This setting will make a BIG gameplay improvment.

Ahhh, didn't think about the precache deal. No wonder I had insane load times, probably whats causing my 15 seconds of lag at the beginning of big bot matches too.

Yep, turning off precaching skins helped loads, so did this:
    [ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem] UsePrecache=True <- set to False

If you're an ATI user, (...And chafe everytime you load UT2004) you can make the startup logo look like this:

    logo_replace.jpg

First, back up your original texture file. It's called NvidiaLogo_T.utx and it's found in UT2004/Textures. Than download and unzip This into UT2004/Textures. I did this yesterday, no problems. Thanks again to Atari Forums.

Haha... Awesome! Hey, does turning off precaching of skins make the level play any slower? I assumed it stopped slow downs during the game.

I haven't had any problems with it so far ..... the only big difference between our (me, dogsoldier, ishiii) systems is the ram. Maybe having 1GB ram really helps? Basically I just cranked everything up to high straight out of the box, set resolution to 1280x1024 (or maybe 1152x864 idk) and it runs just as smoothly as 2k3 or the 2k4 demo. I will try disabling those settings when I get home and see if it does make any difference.
