[blockquote]The other side of this NV40 coin is that the real Mc Coy the real NV40 card that was taped out quite some time ago is actually going to be KIA [Killed in action]. Very knowledgeable friends told us recently in the Vienna Opera house that NV40 with 16 pipes and 210 millions of transistor is completely other chip then original NV40.
What actually happened is that Nvidia recently learned about R420 marchitecture and this entire 12x1 story and, that they will eventually end up in second place and decided to can NV40 project and to go immediately with NV45.[/blockquote]

[blockquote] It seems that AMD decided that after the bang up work IBM did on the 90nm chips, it was time to cement the releationship. Ever wonder where the fully functional 90nm silicon came from at Comdex?
Yup, it seems AMD just monopolized IBM capacity, and NVidia and company were shown the door, politely most likely.[/blockquote]

[blockquote]nd at 5PM Hannover time, AMD - which doesn't seem able to afford a booth this year - is holding a press conference, presumably the press release will be in English English, rather than American English or American German, or German American.
Also, the German reviewers have been vouchsafed FX53 microprocessors, under penalty of NDA, to time with the Messe stuff.[/blockquote]

I'm not so sure that's a good idea. Competition is always good. Then again you'll never know.
Just remember, "Friends don't let friends buy ATI"
I use nVidia cards all the time- just not in my machines. All the new computers @ Habitat For Humanity have GeForce 2 MX400s in them (they're office machines). The unified drivers make my life a lot easier when I have to reinstall/update windows on multiple computers. The Catalysts are similar, but they don't apply to pre-radeon cards...
But I prefer ATi for my machines because the image quality is still a tib better than nVidia's (albiet just a bit), and that matters more to me than outright speed.
Nvidia's GF3 & GF4 cards were excellant, it's only in the current FX-5xxx range that they've stumbled.
