Zalman on a NF-7

Despite what Zalman says, with a little work, you can put a Zalman 7000 on a NF-7. A couple minutes with a Dremel, and a file and your good to go.

The stand offs that bolt to the MB need to be switched, to clear the caps, on the left.
I have seen 2 different processor lock down arms on NF-7's. If you have the metal arm, you have 1 less step. If you have the plastic arm, then the stand off on that side(now the silver one), will have to be filed down. Just enough, to clear the arm, when your locking the proc. down
Then the spring clip, that bolts to the blue stand(now on the left, closest to the caps) off needs to be trimed. Cut it right between the bolt holes. 30 seconds , with a Dremel and a cut off wheel, and it's done.
Thats it! Apply your favorite thermal paste, and bolt it down.
This is not for the hard core overclockers. Not enough HS. But I have a XP-2600 M. I have it OC'd to 2.4, and it Folds at 43C. I have run it at 2.5, but Folding, it gets near 50C.
I lapped the Zalman, they polish up real nice

40 minutes work, starting with 400 grit and finishing with 12000 polishing paper

That is one hell of a finish. Yeah... I had to mod mine when I first got it (I've talked to you about this before I think). I knew my NF7-S wasn't officially supposed to be compatible, but like you said, with a few well chosen tools it can be fitted easily.

    Here's my post about it.

(p.s Those images could really do with being sized down a bit buddy.)

Geeky; I'll tell you for a dollar ;D
Actually it's a Lite-On FS020. Great case! Stock openings for the fans are, 1 in front, 2 in the back, all 120mm. I also cut a exhaust 120 mm in the top, and an 80 mm in the side aimed directly at the video card.
One thing I didn't like about this case, stock, the HD's hang right under the power suppy, way in the back. So, I made the rack that holds them right in front of the front fan

    Thank you , Prime.
Since Spinners little note, I've been trying to learn how to make my pics smaller. I did learn some, as by the picture of my case.
As a side note, to the polish job. I have polished out 2 Thermaltakes, and in each case it was worth a couple od degrees C. But it made no difference on the Zalman. Looks good though
