Can non-mods join in???? (Rhetorical question, only really expect an answer about a month and a half from now... :D ) Thrax will get passed by folder jdii1215 in two days, and Icrontic 11 will get passed within three days. Buddy_J and Icrontic 2 will get passed within a month and a half-- guaranteed. As for you two, not until I upgrade the Barton 2500+ box to a P4 3.06 Northwood or 3.2 GHz Prescott, will Foldingatwork hazard a guess.... :D;D

Good work, supermods, you keep Team 9 moving toward overtaking teams 8 and 7... :celebrate the happenings, & I DO :respect: you guys who move this place and make it happen. Please DO keep your farms a' :smokin:

John, considering the small number of active team members at Short-Media, relative to the other top ten Folding teams, every single member who folds here makes a difference. It doesn't matter if someone is Folding with second generation AMD or PII - his/her contributions are important.

Yes, but SOME have to lead, and praising the leading as much as anything else.... :D They motivate me to explore things like overclocking, faster boxes, etc and I work FASTER also on faster boxes.

ALL Contributions VERY good, this is a power user's and leader's thread, that is why I was humble as much as pssible. Out of :respect: .... Not slavish, genuine, for others who lead the way in folding. That is not meant to denegrate any others who contribute a smaller amount, the contribution is the important thing and not purely or solely point accumulation. BUT, I only have a two box farm, AND it is not an exclusively folding farm by any means.... :D;D

Costs have dropped to the point that a 3.06 GHz HT capable Northwood is less than $200.00 USD, and an IC7-Max3 is also now less than $200.00 shipped (ZipZoomFly, NewEgg.). The upgrade will cost me less than my Barton 2500+ and the MSI KT4VL now in the business box cost me, as I will be getting a bundle pack. ZipZoomFly treats me as an established reseller and OEM System Builder, amongst other things. The Business box is my graphics box, and part of my business is and will be Desktop Publishing and Webdev and digital photography and tuning that for the web. So I am multimotivated to get a power box. BUT, I was one of the low point folks also.... :D just decided part of the proof is in the pudding that results, and just as I learned to make pudding with milk on a wood fire without curdling the milk, I both sell and service both modern and older boxes-- but need to know modern to support it.

That explain where I am coming from????
I definitely agree that TEAM points are total of all production, and Clutch's production is as important to team overall as mine. So is Witenoiz's, and Thrax's, and YOURS. BUT, a large part of this team's production is accomplished by a lot of very fast boxes, and farms of lesser boxes for those that can run that instead and do not have to deal with THAT much heat with AC as much as I do down here in Florida.

I have and will continue to contribute also to the SMx project, from time to time. Stanford will also get a gift from my business this year, directed to Professor Vijay Pande's research-- I sow at least a tithe to worthy causes out of personal conviction. But a team is composed of many folks, and many little contribs still add up to lots of team points. All the approaches are important.

Including contributing as one can, to whatever extent one can. Folding is kinda like open source, "free as in free beer" in Europe, means you do pay back in some way what you get out of Open Source-- and I do that also, out of personal conviction. But, it is conviction that keeps people folding and folding and folding and the competition just has the side effect of more points and more faster ways to compute for the same person. Our reward is very possibly better health or fixes for what might go wrong with our health in the future. I like contributing to that also.

Nah, not offended, just showing some who seem to act like king of the hill-- Thrax, for example, that an unknown might be able to compete also. And figuring showing can be evidenced as good folding production rates also. I build systems that work right. Period. I work at it until they DO run right. And LOVE to gab-- in writing as I do that much better than in "speechifying"....

OK, I see your point. I will agree, the top-tier achievers have always been an inspiration for me as well.

We understand each other very well. ALL production needs to be encouraged. You work every well here as a smoother over of semi-troubled waters before they become Category 4 or 5 rapids, thanks-- and you balance out things well in many places.... :D

Both leavened and unleavened bread, as far as overall tone control, each work for some of the members here. Me, I just hang as a peer, deliberately. PEERS can say things that mods have trouble justifying, because if they are REAL good they have to self-mod in ways that might frustrate them personally and thier subtlety might get totally missed.

I am freer to be me as a peer. PEER-to-PEER modding is valid also. Teens do that all the time, and understand it BIG-TIME. So, I try to gently peer-to-peer mod, WITHOUT really overriding mods. AND, I tend to not keep private things, as seemingly back-stabbing I bend over backwards to avoid, in general.
