POS Toshiba!! Someone HELP...PLEASE!!

edited March 2004 in Hardware
I have a Toshiba Satellite 1805 s-207 model laptop. It was working fine the other night, but then the next night, I tried to turn it on...but nothing happened!! Well, the power light turned on and it made that *tch* noise...but nothing else happened...the fan didn't start running and nothing appeared on the screen. If I waited long enough, then the fan would run for a bit then stop. I can still play music CDs in the CD-Rom drive by using the switch thing on the front.

I tried putting the recovery disk in, but still nothing happened. I don't get the In Touch With Toshiba screen or anything. I call the support center, but....my warranty is expired and all they told me to do was unplug this, unplug that...hold the power button down for 30 sec then plug everything back in. Then they told me I'd hafta take it to a support center.

Does anyone have ANY idea what's wrong with my laptop?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What's wrong with it is that it's a Toshiba. :p

Seriously, try removing all of the batteries and unplugging it for a little while. Plug it back in (leave the batteries out), hook it up to an external monitor, and turn it on

If that doesn't work, try it with the battery(ies) in it.

    What are the specs?

Who knows. CMOS battery? Dead HD or video card?

Put it on Ebay as some kind of wonderful collector's item for $1,500 and if they "buy now" within the first 7 days ( ;D ) you'll throw in a free carrying case valued at $100 and while supplies last the winner will receieve a free lifetime supply of H2O courtesy of God and Mother Nature. Throw in some old crappy shareware and say something like "if you were to purchase the full versions of these games separately you would have to pay upwards of $2,100. But I'm throwing in this CD for NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE! ACT NOW!"

// Edit: Of course I am kidding. Don't take the Ebay part of my post seriously at all. I am in no way advocating doing as suggested, it was only for a laugh. (There, did I cover my butt, mods?)

"Specs" is simply an abbreviation... I'm too lazy to type out "specifications" :D

    CPU manufacturer, model, speed
    RAM size
    etc.
