No kidding. My Maxtor 80GB backup drive is starting to die on me. Browsed online stores - local and e-vendors, but did not find to this 200GB Seagate offer. Saw it only at the store. Yes, I bought it; it's running now.

:bawling: That's just too cheap. It will cost me £120 ($212). Need bargains like that over here.

    Damn nice find Leo!

that ones been available for awhile, i found it on anandtech. also at just about any given time you can find a WD drive for $99 on outpost, i guess the instant rebate isn't as big though (its a $99 mail-in)

Sure, go ahead - deflate Leo's ego. After all, he thought he had done something heroic here! :nudge:

Really? I had searched Anandtech's Hot Deals just before I went out shopping, and didn't see any deals on 200GB hard drives.

well from anandtech i was talking about this one which i suppose expired 4/3, so you got me there.

but on outpost i was able to find this 200gb western digital for $99 and also this 200gb hitachi for $109. about that hitachi, i got a 160gb for $45 (fry's made a mistake, w00t) and it has yet to dissapoint me, they may have finally made good on IBM's deadly HD's

Those ARE nice finds, Baron. Very nice, indeed. We'll see how this Seagate holds up. It's now employed as a backup storage for both my home computers - four partitions for Ghost images.

What I liked about the CompUSA Seagate promotion was that I was able to walk into the store and walk out (after paying, of course!) with the drive. I needed it 'right now'.

yeah i'll probably end up buying exactly the same drive later in the week (apparently 360gb isn't enough for me, both my drives are full) which will leave me with a 200gb WD, a 160gb Hitachi, and a 200gb Seagate. oh boy
