Oh the humanity. (I think my rig is going to self ignite)
Oh dear, oh dear oh dear.
I have put the side on my case again, and after I did that stability went out the window.
Windows and games began freezing on me.
And today windows tossed random BSOD's at me, not funny at all.
What can I do?
I will get my ghetto haddrive cooling up and running in a matter of days.
But how can I lower the casetemp?
Is the case temp./cpu temp. the source of the problem at all?
I am reluctant to add more noise, if anything suggest low noise fans.
The Speed Fan II is quite enough for my ears.
At present I am running at 200x10, it isn't stable at 225x10 anymore. :sad2:
Temps. reported by MBM were.
Idle 52-54 degrees celcius with sidepanels.
Load 57-59 (maybe higher) degrees celsius with sidepanels.
Case 35 degrees, with sidepanels.
Case 25 degrees without sidepanels.
BTW: I really want a AXP Mobile now, this is really annoying me.
More BTW: My iexplore crashed right after I posted this topic.
Would a windows reinstallation solve any problems?
It seems that the crashing isn't entirely heat related.

Increase case cooling significantly.
You've also got that 1800+ heavily OC'd. (In your specs) I bet at default it is stable as a rock with side panels on.
For the heck of it...what are the temps by MBM when at default? Also...what was the OC CPU temp without side panels
How many case fans are you running? You don't need huge noisy airflow...low RPM fans (via a rheobus) would do a lot for you...1-2 in the rear...and a top blowhole...lastly...add a front intake and make sure it is lower CFM than the rear.
If you want to maintain OC and it seems that maybe water cooling is your answer.
I had the SAME problem, using the SAME heatsink and the SAME mobo. Ever since I got that new BIOS, my CPU has appeared to run hotter (same temps as you) when running with a vcore of 1.7V. At 1.725, the crashing would stop, and the system would become entirely stable. But, the CPU temp would top out at 61*C under load, at a case temp of 33*C. As a temporary fix, I swapped the OC from 230x10, to 220x10.5. It now runs stable as a rock with a vcore of 1.7, and the CPU is only 51*C under load.
I want to double check the heatsink, to make sure it's still mounted properly. I have a feeling the bolts need to be retightened since I moved the machine around a lot between the time the old BIOS died, and the new one arrived.
You might want to check your's as well.
I am planning an approach to increase the airflow in the case.
I might add a couple of Papst fans.
Yup, it is stable as a rock at 2 GHz actually @ 1.7V.
I was running at 2 GHz for several months with a Silent Viking. (with side panels)
Temps reached 53-55 @ full load.
I guess 1.9V is near max voltage with air cooling?
I've read that elsewhere.
My ambient room temperature is around 20-24 degrees.
The case temp. without panels was 25-28 degrees.
I have a front intake fan, a lownoise Papst.
I have no exhaust fan, I will need to mount it outside the case. (the WD1200JB is blocking any fan from being mounted inside the case)
I am also adding a 5V/7V GlobalWin 80mm hdd fan maybe tomorrow. I have moved my drives up.
They are now placed directly beneath the cd burner.
I couldn't fit the drive cage, at the bottom, it interfered with the memory modules.
Hmm I haven't moved the machine much since I mounted the heatsink.
But I will retighten the bolts, just a bit to play it safe.
I am using Bios 18 for the record.
I am at 200x9.5=1900 MHz @ 1.7V
MBM reports the cpu temp. to be 49 degrees idle.
Load temp w/ F@H is 52 degrees.
Case temp is 28 degrees, it is a bit cooler in the apartment today.
I will tighten those screws tonight, something is definately wrong I guess.
The temp shouldn't be more than max. 40 degrees at that voltage in my opinion.
The temps I am getting now is close to what I had with the Silent Viking previously, and that wasn't the best HS.
Either my cooling sux0rs at the moment, or my NF7-S measures it all wrong.
My SLK-947U was invaded by an army of dustbunnies.
I managed to eradicate them, with a can of compressed air.
At 1.9 GHz @ 1.7V it is now reading 43 degrees under full load. (much better)
That's an 9 degrees drop.
Case temp 25 degrees, I have turned on my ghetto 5V hd cooling. (pics coming soon)
BTW: Love the new frontpage, much more slick than the old one.
