Right now I am using TTSF2s. I honestly am not to impressed by these fans. Is there any 80mm fans out there that can push more cfm for under 28db? If so I need them. Ill have a fan controller setup, so Ill be able to modify the rpm no matter what fan.

I really like the first one cept the mounting of them is not like a conventional fan. But they are by far the best fans ive ever used

I use panaflo also among others. I usually just get an old psu and just use the fan in them but the very best fans are paspt

I don't believe the specs on that Speeze fan. 26dBA is going to get you more like 30CFM.

    This looks good:

I was not a fancier of those Smart Fan II :skeptic: until I replaced my 92mm Vantec Tornado with one. It raised my temps by 1 degree and lowered the noise by 75%:clap::clap:.

yes overtime ballbearing fans keep getting noisier. The Papst that Geeky was refering to is sleeve bearing.

How much quieter are sleeve bearing fans? I am looking at the Panaflo models and found a few older dual ball bearing, but the new ones are sleeve bearing. I really have no idea the difference with sleeve bearing. I just want the absolute quietest. Also, does anyone know where to get Papst fans, I seem to have trouble finding them, even on eBay.

    All about the TTSF2.

YOU choose the CFM/noise ratio YOU'RE comfortable with.

PanaFlos are not needle and pin sleeve type, they are hydrowave suspension, sleeve and pin in a bath of oily stuff in a sealed bearing housing-- the oilly bath lubricates bearing, and diminishes wear, bearing heat, and rsults in less noise. Needle and pin style are noisier than these things. For under 28 Db, you are looking at about a 30 CFM fan. The Sunon KDE1208PTS3-6 is a sleeve bearing which will get higher pitched in noise over time and is a 29.4 CFM fan. The closest PanaFlo is an FMB-08A12M and is exactly 28 Db, will stay that way for a long time, and is a 30 CFM fan. Starts reasonably quiet and STAYS reasonably quiet.

One thing, lots of folks think ball bearing means dual ball. ThermoTake makes combo-bearing fans, a ball bearing running against a tapered pin or sleeve, but only one ball in bearing. Those get real noisy after a thousand hours run time. They start out over 28 Db also.

BUT, the best bang for the buck insofar as CFM versus Db is a Panaflo FBM08A12H which comes in at 32 Db but 39.6 CFM.

Look at Jameco for prices on these models. They have the M suffix Panaflo fan for $4.55 plus shipping, the Sunon is the same price, and the H suffix regular price is $6.99 (all prices before shipping, qty 1 pricing, first discount level qty 10 of one item in same order, second level qty 50, third lvel qty 100). If you have not guessed, Jameco is a wholesaler. They sell a lot of things to builders and mfr's and heavy techs who milspec solder stuff, and operate mostly in the US as far as shipping.
