ATI and NVIDIA's next-gen graphics Info

According to Hard|OCP, ATI's next-gen part, the R420 will be introduced with various pipeline, memory bit widths and clockspeeds.

Also there is some info from Gigabyte's NV40 Video Cards announcement
Notice as the clocks and memory speeds scale across the product line, so does the pixel pipelines that are turned on or off to further define performance levels.

Last but certainly not least are the projected release dates and MSRP prices in US dollars.

This information did not come from ATI but a source that has proven to be correct in the past. I would categorize this information as "solid but unconfirmed".
The X800 SE with 8 pipelines and 128bit memory MIGHT be a modders wonder card!

Let hope some manufacturer slips up and makes a X800 SE thats softmoddable to a full 256bit/16 pipeline X800 XT!

Would it better to have a 9800XT or a X800 Pro if you were to buy after the X800 Pro was released but before the X800XT.

    9800 Pro (R350) 8 pipelines 380mhz
    9800 XT (R360) 8 pipelines 412mhz

    X800 Pro (R420) 12 pipelines 500mhz
    X800 XT (R420) 16 pipelines 600mhz

    Do the math! :)

Looks like my next card will be a X800 XT... that should be a substantial improvement over the R3x0 series...

I'll prolly go for the X800 Pro and try for the overclock.
