Quick FYI.

There is a Tinker WU acceptance server down at Stanford. My client has been trying to send a WU to it for about 5.5 hours now, so it looks like the server will be down overnight. It is server 143 as you see it in EMIII-- in the client log, the IP will end in '.143:8080' for what the client is trying to connect to.

Client will resend it in the morning, no worries. This is mostly for you folks who have a (s)Tinker caught in your work queue showing finished and who note lot of resends-- or are new and not sure what is happening. This is the only server that is totally showing down, ie it is unpingable within Folding's server group by Folding's assignment servers.

What they do, is if after 7:00 PM Pacific Time a server goes down, it gets brought back up in the morning when folks show up for activity there. If anyone ever wants to know what the server status is, you can go to folding's main site ( http://folding.stanford.edu/ will almost always get redirected to right server for site ), click on status, then click on Server Status. That report is on a ten minute update cycle, times are Pacific Time in US. This way you can check on problems from your end, sometimes find out what is up.

Figured some of the team might want to know some or all of this....

I have one stuck in queue waiting to send. At least the node was able to fetch another unit to begin chewing on.

Thanks, John. I was wondering why my points accumulation was down, especially considering that Tinkers have been readjusted for more points. Right, I've got at least two completed Tinkers that are waiting at the gate to run off to Stanford; maybe more, I'll be checking my office puters in a while as well.

.143 was servign both gro and tinks.
I have a few backed up now. No real damage as long as I can keep getting work from other servers. And so far that is working fine.

Well, it has been over 24 hrs since 143 decided to go to rest. Got 1 in queue. been there for most of the down time too. Got another going in approx 1:15hrs. 2 more are folding aswell. Bummer we picked most of those up prior to the new points system. Was a bit confused (and tired) last night when it all went down and i posted a few queries in stanfords forum. Finally had it confirmed for sure how they are doing the new system.

I'm sure there will be lots of folders waiting to get their points updated and it should show up in the stats as quite a substancial spike. Should be interesting to see, though i'd rather it was back to normal.

Still down. Oh, well, if our clients do not EACH get 9 more backed up from that server (CAN't until it is brought back UP at which point I hope the sudden rush to turnin load does not bring it down again) or others before the server goes back up, we will get our points eventually. Nice thing is, the other 90+% of their network is up and running.... :D

That server is getting a complete file system checkup, looks like. As it has a large RAID system to be completely checked and validated, they are saying tomorrow sometime before that is done. But server is otherwise healthy so far. :FINGERS CROSSED ICON GOES HERE:

    Hope the status report helps.

This server now has its own running topic on Folding's Forums, and has for a while, link below:

    http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=7246

If you post or read and see a time into tomorrow, the times for Folding's forum are GMT\Zulu\UTC time.

I have mentioned I know of 20+ turnins waiting for that server.... :D

If your router is blocking port 8080 that might be needed for this to work-- read PORT 8080 is used for folding. router could be blocking port or server IP, or both. But, THEN nothing connected normally to router should be able to send or get WUs.....

Note, Port 8080 is a commonly used alternative to port 80, should be ok to open this port up on router, just not all the ports available.

Well it appears to be working now even though i didn't do anything. Looks like it wasn't my router afterall. But here something strange. The up and downloading was according to the log done at 04.07. I did not have my rig on then since i was asleep so how in the world can it have done anything then. I know that the computer clock is ok and accurate so can someone please explain to me how a wu was uploaded when the rig was turned off.

The server time is set to GMT. If you adjust for your time zone does it make sense? If not, I have no idea.

BTW - nice to see you pumping out the WU's!

I'm at GMT+1 so then it would be around 5 am and i didn't get up untill 7 so no it doesn't help. Oh well as long as it's getting and sending work i'm fine. Don't look at the log much anyway.

I'm still waiting for my last delivery which includes the box which i think i'll have thurday. The order is still being worked on. :( It really pisses me off to have a 2800+ cpu that i can't use yet. On a sidenote i have now fixed the antistatic wristwrap. It didn't have a aligator clip so i had to make my own method to mount it. :)
