Two words: Laptop & RAID

The upcoming Sager NP8890 will have hardware RAID 0 and 1 support. Let me say that again: The new Sager Laptop has RAID 0. One more time: The new Sager Laptop has <BLINK>RAID 0</BLINK>

Has that sunk in yet? I'm seriously thinking about asking for one for my birthday... This is a LAPTOP that will have:

3.2GHz P4, 800MHz FSB, HT enabled
i865 chipset
Dual-channel DDR400 support, 2 SODIMM sockets (apparently they're going to be offering DDR400 SODIMMs now too), up to 2GB of RAM
ATi Radeon 9600 Pro Mobility 128MB
DVD-R/RW drive
RAID 0 & 1 support using 1 internal hd, 1 modular

The rest of the specs carry over from the 8800 line, including:
16" UXGA 1600x1200
Integrated (separate) number keypad thingy (yea, the laptop's that big)
Integrated TV Tuner
Integrated 802.11

It also retains the 13lb weight, and the fixed primary/no modular battery configuration. And you know what? I don't give a d@mn. 3.2GHz. RAID 0. Laptop. I have to get my hands on one of these things...

On a side note, Hitachi has the drives IBM announced in December available now- they're 2.5", 9.5mm 60GB laptop drives that spin @ 7200rpm and have 8mb of cache. They're basically WD600JBs in a laptop form factor. And the Sager can take 2 of them. In RAID 0. In a laptop. 2 7200rpm 8mb drives. In a laptop. In RAID 0. (can you tell I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around this yet? :banghead: :D )

    Mama...

    /me drools

That's great, I'm thinking about getting a laptop soon, I would love one with RAID 0, that would be just too good. I wish more manufacturers where that adventurous with their specs.

WuGaRoO; The 9600m isn't actually that bad. It's faster than a stock 8500... not earth-shattering, but a good deal faster than the 9000m...
