Check the updated removal info here.

Disable System Restore. Reboot in Safe Mode. Run HJT. Fix:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://omegasearch.com/passthrough/index.html?http://about_:blank
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.emachines.com

    O4 - Global Startup: BigFix.lnk = C:\Program Files\BigFix\BigFix.exe

Manually locate and delete the folders

    C:\PROGRAM FILES\Close Dash Burn
    C:\PROGRA~1\ONELOG~1
(look for the closest matching folder that starts with the letters "ONELOG." )

Reboot normally and check your browser for Omegasearch. If you are clean, create a new System Restore Point.

Come back here and let us know how it worked. Also tell us what the directory "ONELOG" was fully named as.

Hi was just doing some cleaning of my desktop and I had some files all listed as backup-2004-...... and removed them and while doing some others things I went back into IE and noticed my usual homepage wasn't loading and instead was getting some spyware/adware site 69.50.191.51 the listed below in the log. After running Hijackthis again I noticed these backup-2004.... files reappeared. Is it safe to remove these files? Also curious which lines I need to remove from the log below.

    Thanks

The backup-2004 files you saw were backup files for HiJackThis. Before you use HiJackThis, it's best to place the program in its own folder in case you need to restore any of them. Move all of those backup-2004 files to a folder, c:\HJT for example, and place a copy of HiJackThis in there as well.

First, run Ad-Aware and Spybot. Instructions for downloading and running both can be found here.

After you run both, post an updated log.

First of all, way back when you had your first problems in this thread, I asked you to:

Come back here and let us know how it worked. Also tell us what the directory "ONELOG" was fully named as.

If users do not come back and give us feedback that, yes, the solution worked, then we don't know if we are doing the right things to help you out, which in turn makes us better at helping out the next person. Plus, it gives us a warm fuzzy feeling to hear the words: "Thank you, that worked!" And we like warm fuzzy feelings....so this time, please come back and give us warm fuzzy feedback, ok? :)

All right, on to your log....

Reboot in SAFE MODE. Run HJT. FIX:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://autosearch.cc/search.php?qq=

(Those are related to your problem, except for the e-machines one, that was the original default, but best to delete them all and start fresh.)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

(Dead BHO file hooks. Toast 'em.)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wcmdmgr] C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater\wcmdmgrl.exe -launch

(Wild tangent is known to contain adware. Unless you absolutely need it to play a certain game, toast it.)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [svchost] C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe

(A commonly spoofed file, used by several viruses, trojans and some other malware.)

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [es] C:\WINDOWS\System32\es.exe

(Similar to above, matches up to some virus / trojan files.)

    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com (HKLM)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com (HKLM)

(Unless you knowingly istalled these and play a lot of online poker, get rid of these.)

    O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.emachines.com

(Another stray homepage setting, just toast it and start fresh.)

Reboot normally and see how it looks.

Now, your browsing habits (or those of someone else who shares that machine) obviously put you at risk for future problems. Some suggestions:

1 - click the link in my sig to our Security Downloads, and install Spyware Blaster to help immunize you against future problems. It does not protect against everything, but it sure helps.

2 - Consider switching to a different browser. Mozilla and Firefox are both free, and users rarely, if ever, get spyware. People who write the spyware installers don't target those apps as much, because they are used by a smaller segment of the population. Functionality is the same, or in some cases, even better.

Now, this time, be sure to come back and tell us if this worked for you...or else ;)
