hot flash bios

long story short, my brother messed up his bios. he has an asus a7n8x rev 2.0, and was flashing it to get compatibilty to his new 3000+ w/ 400fsb
anyways, he muffed that up, rendering hte machine useless. so i haul out an old system, also an asus board. same exact 2 megabit bios chips, i go to hot flash it .. it will not hot flash using awdflash..
i know what i was doing, it just wouldnt work. what i need to know is, are those bios savior devices a solution here? do they work? and also, are there still companies out there that will program a bios chip and send it to you for 20$? i know i had to use one of them once fudging the bios on an old 8kha+ years ago.
anyways, thanks in advance as always.

Like FatCat said, badflash.com or maybe you could get a new bios chip from Asus. If you have a local computer store that carries the same model A7N8X, you could also go buy a board and use the bios chip out of it to boot to a dos prompt and hot flash your, then return the mobo.
BTW, my rev. 1.04 A7N8X-Dlx has a 4m bios chip, not a 2m chip. That's probably why you were unsuccessful in your flashing attemps.
Well the reason it has a 2mbit is because its not hte dlx, just the a7n8x "standard". Comes with 2 Mbit Phoenix. I attempted to flash it in a a7v266e.
Thanks fatcat, that was the site i needed, have not had to go there for 3 years. I think Ill pick up a rocovery tool also, Im sure it will come in handy soem day. Taking out the bios chip while the computer is on with a small metal screwdriver isnt exactly promising. =p
BTW, they have a forum member here(can't remember his name, darnit!) who has a store that sells Bios Saviors for a decent price. You might ask mmonnin what's the name of the store because he won an Enermax psu from his store in some kind of giveaway contest. The little chip puller that comes with the Bios Savior is really neat and handy; I'd try pulling it booted up with that tool.
