Picked it up on saturday and finally got everything installed and working sunday afternoon. Got some AS5 on the 3200+, and it's folding away.
I did find that the A64's are really picky when it comes to ram, it didn't like the 2x512 matched that I had in my P4 that ran flawlessly for the 8 months that I had it.
Oh well, just running 768mb for now untill the funky stick comes back from rma.
Nice and fast so far. My only complaint is the lack of USB's. I'd like to have 4 on the back, but I guess that's what USB hubs are for.

You should put the drive cover on front of the CD ROM to match the case. Make it look pretty.:)

heatwise, how does that thing do when you're folding? would the abnormally high case temps require extra cooling on other components like the video card, etc?

Yeah TheBaron, Mine overheats and shuts itself off on hotter days. I wonder if a larger fan might help.

It's been running on my desk for about 72 hours so far and the modding bug is already getting restless. I'm thinking of doing a laser cut fan grill on the left side of the case right over where the video card is just so it can get a bit more air. There are 4(I think) rows of holes at the bottom of the cover that run front to back, and the video card gets a fair bit of air that way, but I just think it would look so much cooler with a laser cut fan grill there. And maybe also a blowhole on the top right at the back. There would be enough room to fit an 80mm fan in there, so that's also in the works. I will also be cutting the grill off the cover at the back, the one that covers the fins for the heat pipe.

hmm, I didn't like Shuttle machines before because I didn't think they had much expandability, but that machine looks like it has enough (AGP (full size) + PCI) to I am tempted to build one myself. What actual case is that? (specifically).

    Ah, found it:

Damn good price.... I wonder if it is worth me buying this as my main system (as I currently lack a motherboard and this wouldn't cost much more than a mobo anyway) then just stick my HD, RAM, Proc etc in it and I am good to go, only thing left over would be the PSU so nothing would be wasted... this may be a good idea.

What is the general performance like Dan?

Coming from a P4 2.6C@3.2 I'm very happy with the speed so far. I haven't had time to do a lot of gaming, but it's certaintly folding like a champ and the quick bit of gaming I've done so far with UT2k4 and call of duty has definately not dissapointed. It's just costing me a bit more than I thought because I forgot about the 2 other hard drives that I will now need to get external cases for.

Does that thing have SATA ports? If so, just get two of the HighPoint external SATA enclosure.

I just ordered 2 of these at work.

I like them specifically because there is no external brick power cord, it's just a standard PC power plug, because they have a small 40mm fan at the back for some airflow and also because I can turn them off without having to unplug the drives. And because I don't have to pay retail on them...

What interface are they, though? I've noticed that even firewire/usb2 external hard drives are painfully slow (and it's not my drive either- it's a 7200rpm Maxtor DMax 9 ATA-133 drive with 8MB of cache).

    USB 2.
If you give me a link to a hdd benchmark program I'll run it on the drives when the cases come in tomorrow. They're not for actually running anything, just for storing stuff. My 2 WD 120GB 7200RPM 8MB drives will be in there, and they were nice and fast in my last system.

    Very nice setup Dan

I have the same vid card as you, ever considered sticking one of these coolers on it? Only £9.00 in the UK, dropped temps by 18C and is almost silent running:

No can do. Because the AGP slot is on the outside I can't use a double height card which is what that artic cooler ends up being. I'd love to be able to run something like that because it would send most of the heat right out the back through the blower slots, but it won't fit.
On my order earlier today I did also get one of the biohazard mutant mod laser cut fan grills to match the other one I have. This weekend I'm hoping to break out the 80mm hole saw and get a blowhole cut in the top of the case and one right over where the video card is.
