Another One bites the Dust

Hi

I'm not sure which other items are the 'bad guys' and I would sure appreciate a once over on my log.
Thanks so much,

    visland,

In your HJT log the main culprit I see is this:

    O3 - Toolbar: less tick warn - {0D17E5DC-693C-F5E0-FEFA-EFC3E0A920B4} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\DEFAULTRDR\DEAFEGGS.DLL

I've never encountered tick warn before, but I found a couple different removal tools that may help.

This fix courtesy of BULLDOG, on the Computer Cops Forums!!

Go to Add/remove programs and remove:
    Window Search

You will be given a security code to insert, do so
    And reboot when done.

*If not found run these uninstallers:
    1. New_uninstall.exe http://lop.com/new_uninstall.exe
    2. Toolbar_uninstall.exe http://lop.com/toolbar_uninstall.exe

    Then reboot and delete:
    C:\PROGRA~1\warn size tick <--folder

And post a fresh HijackThis log.

Let us know if this helps, I'll keep looking too.

    good luck

    RADA

    Thanks RADA,

    I removed the window search - I'm a bit new at this - but I couldn't find the C:\Progra~1/warn size tick < -- folder.

The folders that looked a bit odd were
C\PROGRAM\defaultdr - it has an application called 'deafeggs.dll' and a file called 'AXIS TEST WAIT'
C:PROGRAM\exit love - it has applications called 'heck stop', 'pjgmnthf' and 'wdwbnukb' Are these anything to worry about?

After rebooting, the evidence of omegasearch is gone and I am listing the most recent HijackThis Log

    I really appreciate your help

    Visland

You've still got some signs of Omegasearch:

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://omegasearch.com/searchbar.html
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4255B6F5-36CB-7C17-E1E2-8038089EF41B} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\QTTASK.EXE" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
These two are updaters for QuickTime and Real Player, respectively. They're wastes of resources. Delete 'em.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Motive SmartBridge] C:\PROGRA~1\TELUSE~1\SMARTB~1\MotiveSB.exe
Suspicious program. A Google search points to this being part of WildTangent, a known spyware app.

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [remititit19331] C:\WINDOWS\command.com /c del C:\PROGRA~1\EXITLO~1\Heck stop.exe
    Omegasearch

    O4 - Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = c:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Installer\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}\misc.exe
MS Office nonsense. It's safe to delete this link without affecting Office functionality.

    It's a constant learning process, RADA. There's still a lot I haven't figured out.

    Mr. Kwitko

Thank you. I removed all of the offending signs of Omegasearch except

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [remititit19331] C:\WINDOWS\command.com /c del C:\PROGRA~1\EXITLO~1\Heck stop.exe

I could not find this one on the scan when I ran it on Hijack This - would I find it somewhere else?

I've had no sign of Omega and I sure appreciate both you and RADA helping.

Okay, I think you might be alright with that one. Looks like it was set to be deleted by some other program.
