Bad battery? Or something else?

Motherboard - ECS K7S5A

Problem: Everytime I shutdown my computer, then turn it back on, I get some boot message CMOS error something... Press F1 to enter setup.
So I go into the bios settings, and all the settings are default.
What's going on?

Is it a bad battery?

possibly; I've had a similar problem on a K7S5A before. Your best bet is either to just replace the battery, or test it with a voltmeter.

I found THIS thread very intersting as it seems that it is exactly the same as your boards problem. It doesn´t have to be the battery after all, more like a bad board really. Im not saying you should do what that thread says, but it might give you an idea on what the problem is. Have you tried different bioses? Apparently, a few have installed a Pro bios that solved this.

Otherwise, a quick google gave me THIS

It could be a bad battery but that's quite unusual. Could you post a bit more information about your system, general specs, what OS, that kind of thing.

Firstly, is this a new system, or has it just started this behavier? What was the last thing you did before it started playing up? Have you been experiencing any other problems, like random lockups and BSOD's? Are you overclocking?

If you could answer those questions then we might be able to help you a bit more effieciently.

    Thanks.:)

I have the same board and kept getting this problem. When I changed to DDR ram, it stopped. So I have no idea whats going on.

You should change the battery. If that don't fix it, it's the mobo. I hate that mobo. I can not for the life of me figure how it got to be so popular with every second one having problems.
