Whenever I hold my mouse over an icon a little box opens telling me what the icon is. I know what it is! I've look for an option to turn this off but can't find one.
Where is it guys?

Also my system tray clock never keeps the right time, it now says 23:21 whereas it's 07:30. Not just a few minutes out but hours. I can reset the clock and next time I boot it'll be miles out again.

    The clock issue can be fixed with a new CMOS battery.

    CMOS battery? It's not effecting anyhting else and the boards only two months old. The PC has been off all day since I reset the time this morning, it now says 08:18.

    And god only knows how long that board sat on the shelf. I've had to do it to near brand new boards before. It's like $3, and it should solve the problem. You might as well give it a try.

    Also, check time zone settings, ok??? for clock, IF this happens just in Windows but BIOS clock is fine.... IF it is out in BIOS, battery will definitely fix, probably a CR2032 coin cell, or DL2032, used in some cameras for backup also. They last average of three years running from time first used. That could be when board was mfr'd, if some doofus at mfr left it on, so battery would have supplied clock all through a sea or air voyage, sat on dealer's shelf with clock ticking away, etc.

    No problem squire, catch me between 6pm and 8pm-ish :)

    I know you don't feel overly comfortable hacking the registry, even for a single key, so it's quicker just to go over it on the phone :)

    make and ascii file with only the following info and call it something like noballoon.reg:

    REGEDIT4

    KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
    "EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000

    save it then double click it and it will prompt you asking if you want it to automatically change the setting for you ...and you're done. That's the easiest way.
    It will only work if it is typed exact.

    you can add all of your registry tweaks to that file and just double click it once and they will all be set ...just an automated way of doing it.
