PCZone have put up some exclusive details about how the Need for Speed game franchise is getting ready for the next-generation of gaming hardware.
While many of you will already be frothing at the mouth at the prospect of Need For Speed Underground 2, the enormous, Grand Theft Auto-inspired follow-up to one of last year's biggest titles, Electronic Arts has dropped a petrol-powered bombshell, revealing first plans for the next generation of its killer franchise.

Well, I suppose they're giving the people what they want... I, for one, maintain that the best NFS game was Porsche Unleashed.

Well presuming the game you speak of is the one I'm remembering, the one that was technically Need For Speed V, then I would have to dis-agree. I thought it was the worst out of all of them. (All of them meaning III and up) :)

Yes, NFS V was Porsche Unleashed. I don't know too many people that like it. I like it for the same reason that I have the arcade/simulation slider on Mercedes-Benz World Racing set all the way to the simulation side. I don't want an arcade game, or the physics that come with it. I want to experience, as much as possible, what driving the car that I'm driving would actually be like. I love NFS: Porsche Unleashed because it seems to come at least relatively close to that; closer, certainly, than any of the other games in the series except maybe NFS 1 & 2, which had the same approach. Arcade driving games are no fun.

Well I agree with your description of the game, however that's why I don't like it. I prefer the arcade feel personally, makes it more fun.

My favorite was NFS Hot Pursuit 2, game rocked. Was very disappointed with Underground for the PS2 & PC

    I agree 100%.
All NFS games since Porsche Unleased have been bad console ports. :mean:
