Trouble with loading windows

edited June 2004 in Science & Tech
I just recently installed a Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 soundcard into an Asrock K7VM2 motherboard. All seemed ok the first time I booted the pc up with it in, and Windows XP automatically installed it, though said I needed to reboot my system for changes to take place. I did so but when I tried to play sound nothing would work, I know the speakers would work, and tried them in every slot.

However I then realised that the Sound card didnt look as if it was sitting right in the motherboard, so I resited it. Now when I try to load Windows up it wont get past the Windows XP loading screen.

I am know stuck as to how to get past this.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

*Edit* I have fixed this problem now

Windows is now booting and the sound card is installed properly, but I am still getting no sound. Is there anything I can do before puttin the problem down to the soundcard not working ?
