Does anyone have a good idea about how to trash these new ad formats? I've looked for the codecs that the ads are using to simply delete them, without luck. I emailed Eyewonder and asked how to block them. No response. (Really didn't expect one, but thought I would try...)

It doesn't take long to despise this new form of advertising.

The easiest way is to add the URLs to a HOSTS file. In Windows NT/2K/XP, the HOSTS file is located in [WinNT|Windows]\system32\drivers\etc. In Win9x, it's located in the Windows root folder. Right now, any ready-made HOSTS file I've come across just has entries for Pointroll, but it's a start.

To edit the HOSTS file, open it in any text editor and add the following lines:
127.0.0.1 pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 ads.pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 media.pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 mirror.pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 speed.pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 track.pointroll.com
127.0.0.1 www.pointroll.com

If you don't have a hosts file, create a new text file and rename it without the .txt extension. Make sure if you're creating it from scratch that you add the line:
127.0.0.1 localhost
