connecting computers for calculations

edited June 2004 in Science & Tech
Hello guys,

I have a big problem with some calculations in a statistical program called spss. My new notebook (pentium m 1.7 ghz, 512 ram) would spend days and days of time making the calculations.

Is there some possibility that I connect computers to eachother with the purpose of getting the calculations much faster??

Do you have other suggestions?

Please let me know, I am really frustrated about it. :mean:

Looks like SPSS 10.0 can do it:

If the program is capable of doing it, then yes, it's possible. You'll need to run Linux/Unix (will Unix do this?) and it's called a beowulf cluster. It's the same thing, but on a smaller scale, as the latest G5/Athlon/Xeon-based supercomputers.
