Rogue Rig?

PressXPressX Working! New
edited July 2004 in Folding@Home
OK here is the problem: I have a number of rigs working for me now. One of them is folding under my username but ignoring the team. I have reset them all but it is still ignoring 93. Anyone have an idea on either a) how to trace the rig or b) how to ensure the rigs uses Team 93? I am using the console on all. All but one rig is on XP/AMD and the other is '98/Intel.

The rogue rig has 722 points now! Which is a lot to not have on my/teams score.

Any thoughts?

If you are running EMIII, you can easily check what the username and team number the rigs are set on. Bring up the first page when you open up EMIII's advanced settings and features (by clicking on the microscope on the front of the app) and then highlighting box1 and then clicking the config info button and it will list all the config settings for that instance being monitored. Here's a screenshot of how it lists the config info:

Thanks. That gave me an idea to look in the client.cfg and hey presto. In the cfg the team was set to 0 but in my console is still said team 93. I have changed it.

I will run it for a while and see if the rogue rig stops climbing...

Will have to find another rig to make up the numbers. Would have been on 2861

I think if you have further problems you should check the FAHlog & FAHlog prev too. Make sure they are set to 93 and be sure to save before exit.

I think your problem is in the FAHlog.txt as I mentioned above - edit that and the *.prev and you should be OK. Jack

Thanks. I have checked and will check again. I am a little perplexed though? I assumed the log file was just a dump of the console and making an edit to this, using my theory, should not effect the team or username etc...

Editing the log will do nothing. You have to edit the client.cfg. A log file is just a print out of what already happened and cant change what will happen.

    They all look fine...

SO who is this rogue rig? Is it the mild mannered janitor? Could be?

Did you restart the console on that rig that you changed the client.cfg on? If not, the change was probably not implemented yet.

I did. I have restarted all of them. They get restarted often as they do other stuff as well..

this is the last entry on the Rogue...

    HERE

IT has gone up by 242 Points since it's last change and that was a while back. The time stamp I assume is local to Stanford? I can not find an enrty in the logs that match the time stamp.... spooky!!!

Could it be a computer not in your control? One that you have not checked?
  • PressXPressX Working! New
    edited June 2004
I did think of that but unlikely. No rigs out my control know about it yet...

I know your right about the FAHlog - but if it had my grandmothers birthday wrong in there I would correct it just in case. Jack

You may have a rogue cfg file on one of the systems ...in other words ...you may be checking the cfg file when actually F@h is using a different cfg file. This happened to me once on a P4 with ht. Just be sure that each instance of F@h is using the cfg that is in its native folder.

Perhaps do a search on each system for client.cfg. If you turn up more than one on a system then that could be the problem right there.

    Just a thought.

If it were me I would stop the client and then delete all client.cfg files. Then run the client with the -config flag and reconfig. Once this is done you can spot exactly where F@h is reading the cfg file. It would surely cut down on time troubleshooting the problem and eliminate that part of the confusion. Then I suppose you'd be left with the question ...I wonder why it's using that folder to read my cfg? lol

Well I have kinda done that already... when I first had the problem I removd and installed the console on all rigs.... bar one. The bar one has now also been replaced. If it happens again seti here I come (j/k)

I just looked and your down 6 points.. you were quick to find it!

Mine has just gone over 1000!!!!!! FFS (For F*cks Sake) I am going to be mad very soon. People come to me to fix things I don't have these problems!!!! AHHHHHHHH :banghead: AHHHHHHH :banghead: 1000!!! :banghead:  AHHHHH Right. It can't be this rig (my main workhorse) or my laptop as they have been working on a big WU (400 frames) that leaves three others. My shop "demo" PC, my shop "till/general dogsbody" pc and an old P200 that my Mum uses to check her email with.

So tomorrow the shop two get a good kicking. The P200 is so slow that it can't have done 1000 in 2 weeks. The thing is I uninstalled and deleted everything from one PC today and yet when I went to run the "console - config" and it still had "PressX" as username - but no other settings. I did a quick scan of the registry and there were a few references. Tomorrow this will be resolved. (After I have done my VAT which is due in Today!)

At least it is still folding... just not for the team

The other thing it might be is the console reading a global config file in the registry?? (think the graphic one does this) instead of the local one. Adding the -local flag to the shortcut to the executable will force it to read the local client.cfg.

Wrong ...the box was folding anonymous so you didn't see the points I submitted to it ...it'd probably been that way 3 mos.
