This is a SAK38 cooler glued with Artic Silver Epoxy. Now I`ll be preparing the VDD Mod.

What do you think? :)

I like it  Are you sure that sink is big enough?? ;D

Il be interested to see what the rest of the board runs like once its had the volt mods :)

I will be horribly dissapointed if you don't have a delta to put on that too :D

It looks like an Alpha Pal8045 without the shroud.

Im having a similar sink as well....but on the southbridge. The north will be covered by a waterblock.

Awesome job Ultra! I´m having my new 2.0 vdimm and vmem modded as well as we speak.

    to cool the mosfets ;D

All kidding aside, the mosfets are for power regulation, and they get quite hot.

That fan on the CPU is a 60x60 by at least 30mm high fan. Just how loud is that when it runs?

I like that SB cooler! Which is it?? That aint a Zalman for sure...

The mosfet`s sinks are cool too... I plan to add some Alpha W series to them some time in the future as well as come IC on the board.

And if the SAK gets hot after the vdd mod then there`ll be more Delta action inside my box!

The 8045 is an 80x80 HS

Excuse my ignorance but, I've seen stuff about fans, heat sinks etc before. Do you notice any differance or are they like 'go faster' stripes on cars?

    bothered

You can OC a lot higher with better cooling. They definitely provide a benefit: Stability and reliability!

If you're going to run at stock volts.... i'd say they're racing stripes, but if you're going to vmod something, it'll heat up alot more, and it's a good idea to put extra cooling on it :)

It´s just a athlon heatsink that is glued on the southbridge with Artic silver adhesive. The north is also lapped a little to make better contact with the waterblock. The small sinks is made and sold by most of the "cooling" companys such as Zalmon, Coolermaster, Thermaltake etc and i dont think you have any problems finding them.

This is going to be fun, 3.23 volts on the memory and 1.92V on the Chipset is confirmed and 231 fsb is a walk in the park so far.

So, then, since it is that big, it must be insanely loud, what RPM does it run, and its decible rating. Do you have it on a fanbus?

Danball, there are two and a half million DIFFERENT fans and speed of the fan. The fact that the fan is bigger also means that in 99% of the cases, it´s more silent than the smaller fans.

For example, right now, my little 60mm fan on the chipset is the part in my system that makes most noise.

mack has a point...with a bigger fan it just gets more efficent when it comes to the noise/cfm ratio...a 129mm fan can be silent while pushing 50cfms...but a 60mm fan will be a delta

Each voltage regulator uses capacitors and they get HOT when overclocking. Adding a few seperates a lot of heat to more places.
Like dividing heatsources really. Helps getting more fsb :D

mack, you realize that you're insane, right? :D

I mean, I overclock my stuff, but physically modding the circuitry is too much for me... although that may have more to do with my soldering skills and knowledge of electronics (or lack thereof; I can build computers; I can't build a power supply) than anything else...

Well, i´m just learning this right now as it´s not myself who do the mods. A VERY good friend is doing it, i just bought a brand new board and sent it to him to play with.

However, with the next board, i will know more and can probably to this myself.

Well my mosfets don’t get very warm at all.... perhaps I'm doing something wrong? ;)

So is the NB cooler on the NF7 really that crummy? I've already replaced the white goop with AS3, and the fan doesn’t seem loud at all.

And as for the SB, could someone please tell me what (passive) heatsink would be best on the sucker (keeping in mind I'm running a FSB of only 213 at the moment)? I don’t really want anything crazy, just something adequate.

Also, a good online source of thermal tape would be handy, as there aren’t any places that sell it locally around here.

The cooler that is on the NB is perfect for the SB with a little Artic Epoxy under it. 213 isn´t bad at all but the board can do more if you want.
