installing php

im trying to install a php interpreter on my web server. i got the installer from www.php.net and i'm trying to get it to work with abyss web server. i'm not really sure what i am doing, so detailed instructions would be great.

    well, i tried it, and it doesnt work. i tripple checked it all. the browser just comes up showing the script code.

    Does it have to be abyss server??? :)

    well, its got alot of configured stuff like usernames and what not... id hate to do it all over. what do u suggest?

    In that case, re-read the abyss server site and check the latest versions of the documentation.

    My suggestion was based on this being a PHP dev type setup, in which case.. a crash course on manually installing apache/php and MySQL I could have done :)
